The Senior Buyer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a highly competitive and dynamic supply chain, which complements FANUC's goals and direction as defined by Corporate Objectives, Measurables and Quantifiers.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Champion a streamlined procurement process (from RFQ to Receipt) that focuses on solid communications between FANUC employees and suppliers

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of RFQ's and purchase orders

  • Develop qualified suppliers to ensure adequate competition is available

  • Develop and lead negotiation strategies which optimize FANUC's position (cost, quality, delivery and terms/conditions)

  • Evaluate supplier proposals and understand total procurement costs

  • Develop sourcing strategies based on supplier consolidation and leverage

  • Understanding and strategic view regarding needs in technology, cost and delivery

  • Broadly support FANUC Manufacturing and/or Executing Groups needs for:

  • On-time deliverables

  • Complete and functional deliverables

  • Timely responses by suppliers

  • Competitive costs with an underlying drive for continuous cost savings

  • Develop and manage a highly dynamic supply base which complements FANUC's goals & objectives as defined by Corporate Objectives, Measurables and Quantifiers

  • Develop and implement a robust commodity strategy including supplier consolidation and development

  • Lead procurement activities for new product developments

  • Provide support to manufacturing production activities

  • Continuous improvement and quality

  • Effective engineering change management

  • Drive supplier Value analysis and Value Engineering

  • Supplier development activities

  • Early supplier involvement and development

  • Optimize FANUC's financial performance in terms of:

  • Reduce cost through understanding of total cost and key cost driver

  • Ongoing drive to reduce standard costs

  • Adherence to FANUC's standard payment terms

    Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Material Management, Business, Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum ten years preferred of purchasing experience in machine tool, capital equipment or automation with demonstrated growth as a professional.

  • Good understanding of the Uniform Commercial Code and legal & ethical conduct required in the marketplace.

  • Demonstrated understanding of contract terms and conditions.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documents
