Job Summary:

Our HCA Healthcare LewisGale Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency and Transitional Year programs are seeking a Program Director to join our team in Salem, Virginia. This position will provide directorship for both programs and will report to the Designated Institutional Official for GME as well as clinical leadership.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate:

  • ABMS or equivalent board certification in Internal Medicine

  • 5+ years of APD or PD experience preferred

  • Post-residency clinical experience with additional experience as a faculty member with an accredited residency program required

  • Experience in GME leadership with strong record of academic achievement

  • Excellent leadership, clinical and communication skills

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide leadership for our Internal Medicine and Transitional Year programs

  • Allot approximately 80% time to administrative duties and 20% to clinical time

  • Direct and support the educational content and operations of both residency programs including scholarly activity of residents and faculty

About our programs:

  • Our HCA Healthcare LewisGale Medical Center Institution sponsors 6 programs including Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Transitional Year and Gastroenterology with approximate total of 150 trainees

  • Our Internal Medicine Residency program was established in 2017 and has 20 residents/year

  • Our Transitional Year program has 15 residents and was established in 2021

  • We have multiple academic affiliations including 2 local medical schools and several schools of Nursing
