Citigroup Data Center Technician - AVP in Roanoke, Texas

Job Overview:

Our Citi Americas Data Center Physical Provisioning (DCPP) role is responsible for managing and tracking of all activity within the current and future-processing environment in the Americas data centers. The Physical Provisioning group, in conjunction with the Data Center Service Delivery (DCSD), monitors all Business as Usual (BAU) and projects including hardware install and upgrades including break / fix trouble related activities. It also assures the proper and timely coordination/escalation of all processing problems along with documentation daily. This role acts as the managing interface to Corporate Reality Service (CRS). DCPP coordinates CRS activities within the facility and is ultimately responsible for the management and control of the data center raised floor. DCPP is responsible for the receipt, placement and installation of hardware on the processing floor. By assuming an active lead role the DCPP team must ensure compliance and enforce all rules and standards in the change control process.

The Data Center Technician is responsible for Data Center Physical Provisioning (DCPP) activities, assisting with LAN / WAN and help desk administration activities, including network maintenance, technical guidance, and security in coordination with the Technology Infrastructure team. The overall objective is to use infrastructure technology knowledge and identified policies to process data, resolve issues and execute administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current updates to the ServiceNow and inventory systems.

  • Daily coordination of installs, de-installs and redeployed equipment with the onsite DCSD (Data Center Service Delivery)

  • Ensure that the SAN fiber connections are complete, documented and installed on time with the DCSD

  • Coordinate future installs via regularly scheduled user meetings

  • Ensure accurate and concise documentation is maintained at all times

  • Ensure that all equipment is properly labeled and bar coded within 24 hours of arrival

  • Ensure that correct power is installed for each device

  • Maintain asset management policies and procedures throughout device lifecycle

  • Develop projects required for design of metrics, analytical tools, benchmarking activities and best practices

  • Responsible for overall operating system applications

  • Contribute to technical direction and strategic decisions

  • Create the weekly rack and stack change control list

  • Create the weekly midrange power installation change control

  • Resolve trouble tickets assigned to the local group

  • Perform hardware elevations when needed using ServiceNow/ for various new hardware installations

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Infrastructure Technologies delivery with a proven track record of operational process change and improvement

  • Strong background on enterprise data center facilities and infrastructure environments such as PDUs, RPPs, network and SAN infrastructures

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to multi task to manage several priorities in a rapidly changing environment

  • A hands-on individual with multiple hardware platform knowledge (HP, EMC, IBM) is required

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience

  • Ability to work with virtual and in-person teams, and work under pressure or to a deadline

  • Experience in a Financial Services or large complex and/or global environment preferred

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective analytic/diagnostic skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

  • Onsite: M-F, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM CT
