Actalent Distribution Engineer in Riverview, Florida

Job Title: Distribution Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking Junior Level Distribution Engineers to join our team in Florida. In this role, you will support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across Florida. Your work will involve engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorated cable, moving overhead lines to underground, reconductoring of existing distribution lines, and replacing aging equipment. Responsibilities include conducting site visits, evaluating equipment loading, interpreting design manuals, determining design requirements, preparing project/job packages, reviewing plans for proposed construction, and developing solutions to existing conductor and structural clearance violations. You will also be expected to attend regular project team meetings.

Hard Skills

  • Engineering Degree

  • 1 year of engineering experience

  • Experience in Power/Energy/Utilities

Soft Skills

  • Ability to take precise field notes

  • Ability to evaluate loading of various equipment components

  • Ability to review and interpret design manuals

  • Ability to determine and specify design requirements

  • Ability to design and draft construction drawings

  • Ability to prepare projects and job packages using appropriate software

  • Ability to review plans for proposed construction

  • Ability to develop solutions to existing conductor and structural clearance violations

  • Ability to develop final design plan packages

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Riverview, Florida.

Work Environment

Work is performed at our Riverview office. We offer flexibility with the possibility of working from home on occasion, after a 6-month training period. Our team is part of a 170 person power group based between Maitland and Tampa. Our new 19,000 sq ft Tampa office comes complete with a foosball table and shuffleboard, fostering a positive and engaging work environment. There is also an opportunity to move to our new office in Clearwater after the initial 6 months.
