Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Site Controller in Riverdale, Illinois

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Site Controller at our Riverdale operation. The Site Controller is responsible for providing leadership, supervision and direction to Riverdale’s control organization. Specifically including accounting, internal control, analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, cash forecasting, organizational development and business improvement. Instill a strong ethical standard and understanding of operational processes and adherence to internal controls.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Control, direct and supervise the internal control functions for Riverdale Operations, including all facets of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and compliance.

  • Direct and coordinate all general accounting, analysis and financial reporting for Riverdale Operations.

  • Develop and maintain open two-way communication with site general manager and departmental managers to fully understand their business process and provide the financial support necessary to operate their respective unit’s cost effectively.

  • Interface directly with the general manager, departmental managers and corporate constituents to provide support, cost information and other analytical data as needed.

  • Direct and coordinate the development of the annual and quarterly operating budgets for the site, along with any ad-hoc forecasting/scenarios.

  • Promote continuous improvement processes in the accounting/reporting area. Work with the other functional areas, including engineering, operations and maintenance to support business improvement efforts.

  • Responsible for the development, training and guidance for a team of three professional accountants/analysts.

  • Support Steelmaking special project efforts as identified which will require some dedicated time at the Administrative Office Building. i.e. PCR project, Steelmaking automation and reporting projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and learning skills.

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships with internal and external contacts.

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel to retrieve, filter, and analyze data from multiple servers, tables, and manufacturing systems.

  • 5 years Accounting/Finance experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous manager/controller experience preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

  • CPA and/or MBA desired.
