GE Aerospace Mechanical Transmission - Configuration Management Engineer in Rivalta di Torino, Italy

Job Description Summary

Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in aeronautical Mechanical Transmissions Systems with particular focus on power applications (Helicopter Transmission Systems, Power Gearboxes and Accessory drivetrain), offering distinctive solutions to Third party Customers with a growing level of complexity of the entire system.

In this spirit, we are looking for a talented Configuration Management Engineer to be responsible for defining and keeping up to date following design changes the product structure including options and variants, for prototype and series products.

The Configuration Manager will assure the correct definition of the Configuration Management Plan in partnership with Systems Engineering team to be agreed with Third Parties Customers. He/She will guide the configuration structure and strategy in partnership with the Systems project management and the Certification manager. He/She will manage the basic layout of the products and its correct sequence in the certification path, the product modifications via Engineering Change process leading the Change Review Boards, ensuring configuration and change reports availability as necessary.

He/She will manage the configuration of instrumented parts and drive the build of recipient modules in order to assure availability and consistency of hardware in time and on cost. This with the purpose to assure the proper execution of the Testing Plan agreed to successfully validate the design with the relevant product configuration.

Moreover, the Configuration Manager, within the Design Team, will assure the quality of Configuration Structures, 3D Models and drawings in terms of Product Definition design board inquiring and guiding Module and Component designer for the purpose.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • The Configuration Management Engineer utilizes experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and can affect short-term and long-term goals.

  • Evaluates, proposes and prepares continuous improvements of tools, methods and guidelines in the Configuration Management domain.

  • Ensures deployment of the Configuration Control Process to the specific program adapting it to any specific need;

  • Ensures the flow down of the Configuration Control Process to the team;

  • Develops, conducts and supports internal mentorship in configuration and change management.

  • Develops, creates, controls, and keeps up to date the product structure including options and variants.

  • Manages the drawing structure and the effectivity of configuration items.

  • Acts as change owner of design changes to the product structure, verifying the consistency of the proposed changes and ensuring the correct distribution of information.

  • Prepares change request overviews and configuration reports for authorities and/or internal departments.

  • Acts as chairman of the change review boards and change implementation boards when necessary.

  • Interfaces with production organization and other departments to support configuration conformity.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Proven experience in previous roles, preferably acquired in the sector of transmission systems

  • Degree in Engineering or High school diploma with proven technical experience on complex mechanical components such as gearboxes

  • Knowledge of transmission system technical requirements, design solutions, and technologies

  • Knowledge of CAD design tools (NX preferable) and PLM Logic.

  • Knowledge of FMECA process

  • Knowledge of Microsoft package

  • Clear thinking and diligent approach

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities

  • English and Italian fluency

  • Work VISA, according to local regulation, is required
