Franklin Pierce University Senior Director of Human Resources & Chief Human Resources Officer in Rindge, New Hampshire

Franklin Pierce University (FPU) in Rindge, NH, is close to major cities like Boston and New York City yet provides the natural beauty and safety of a rural campus, with ready access to outdoors activities, the arts, excellent educational options for families, and much more. FPU seeks an experienced professional to serve as Senior Director of Human Resources (SDHR). Reporting to the President, the SDHR serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer and therefore as an advocate and manager regarding benefits, policies, and practices that affect all employees. The SDHR is also a strategic partner and advisor to FPU’s senior leadership. The Senior Director provides leadership to and close management of the HR team, and guides the organization’s evolving and growing needs, the standardization of programs and processes, as well as recruiting, benefits, salary administration, regulatory compliance, employee relations, human resources information systems and record management, etc.

The new SDHR will participate in contract negotiations and will engage in ongoing, proactive relationships with bargaining unit(s) - and will oversee management of all employee programs, including benefits, compensation, recognition and development programs. Regular assessment of all benefits to ensure best plan for best price, consistency in application, simplification of administration, and compliance with regulatory requirements is expected. Further, the SDHR will partner as needed with the Title IX coordinator and ensure compliance with affirmative action as well as all other HR policies and programs tied to government rules and regulations, including, but not limited to ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, and IPEDs.

A member of the President’s Senior Staff, the SDHR must have a bachelor’s degree (graduate degree and HR certification desirable), and progressively responsible experience working in Human Resources, ideally in higher education or a related field. The ability to lead through change, challenges, and strategic growth is essential as is the talent to lead collaborative efforts with faculty and staff as well as external organizations. The ability to manage confidential information and support all personnel with empathy and clear direction is expected.
