City Of Rifle Utility Technician I in Rifle, Colorado

Job Summary: The Utility Technician Level I repairs and maintains aspects of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This position performs semi-skilled work in order to assist with a variety of water services including shut offs, meter installs or replacements, pressure checks and detecting and repairing water leaks.

Experience and Training: Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Job Requirements: Valid Colorado Driver's License and valid Colorado CDL or ability to obtain CDL within six months of hire. Safe driving record required for continued employment. Possession of or the ability to obtain Class I Tech Certification for Water distribution and wastewater collection certifications within one year of employment. First Aid and CPR Certifications desirable. Must possess and maintain Flagger certification within one year of hire. Must attend Confined Space training within one year of hire. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR and DOT drug and alcohol testing with results that are acceptable to the City of Rifle. Work Experience in Positions Similar or Related to This Job: One year experience in repair and maintenance of water and wastewater system components, including pumping equipment and tanks is preferred. Previous experience working in a maintenance position supporting external customers is preferred. This position is full-time, with benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance, as well as retirement, vacation, sick, and holiday pay. The wage range for this position is $20.66-$22.78, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is open until filled.
