Vectrus Quality Assurance & Safety Lead in Richmond, Virginia

Overview

This position will be located in Chesapeake, VA

The Quality Assurance & Safety Lead is responsible for leading and developing best-in-class quality assurance processes in support of global programs and customers. The Quality Assurance & Safety Lead is responsible for all aspects of quality assurance including internal audits, supporting external audits, leading receiving inspection and quality assurance, non-conformance management, and pre-shipment inspection and quality assurance. The Quality Assurance & Safety Lead is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and quality product is delivered to customers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform and document internal audits of quality manual, processes, and procedures to identify potential improvements and findings

  • Support external audits in a thorough and professional manner through preparation, reinforcement training of personnel, document preparation, documentation of resulting findings/recommendations, and any other actions necessary for a successful audit

  • Manage and oversee completion of corrective actions to resolve internal/external audit findings in a timely manner

  • Ensure all warehouse operations are performed in accordance with corporate/local policies, procedures, and all applicable quality manuals

  • Lead continuous improvement of warehouse processes, implement process changes, maintain/enhance local policies and procedures, and coordinate with Quality to enhance/maintain quality manual(s).

  • Provide recommendations to the quality manual and implement changes approved by management.

  • Oversee and support quality assurance and inspection of delivered product to ensure only compliant product is accepted

  • Oversee and support the non-conformance management process to ensure all cases are resolved in a timely manner

  • Oversee and support the quality assurance and inspection process of prepared shipments to ensure only safe and compliant product is delivered to customers

  • Develop, track, and maintain appropriate metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of warehouse’s compliance and quality assurance

  • Ensure all systems of record have accurate and timely data

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years’ Quality related experience or Bachelor’s Degree in quality, business, operations management, supply chain, or related field or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee, implement, and audit quality processes

  • Ability to complete and maintain a current HAZWOPER certification (40-hour initial and eight (8) hour annual refresher training as required).

  • Ability to complete and maintain OSHA Professional General Industry Safety & Health (30 hours)

  • Must have a valid state driver’s license

  • Must maintain current driver license to operate forklifts and other related equipment.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel)

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to translate business initiatives into actionable tasks

  • Experience with ISO9001 (preferred) and/or AS9120 (strongly preferred) certifications

  • Able to articulate concrete examples of critical thinking, problem solving and investigative skills

  • Good communication, organizational, time management mathematical skills

  • Dependable and Reliable

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage high volume activity

  • Ability to work under pressure (at times), proactive, self-directed and to be extremely flexible under changing priorities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage communications and stakeholder expectations in support of the Director.
