About the role

As a CBRE Energy Manager, you will lead the development and execution of energy management programs for a Cincinnati-based healthcare client with a portfolio of 35 hospital campuses in OH, SC, VA & KY.

This job is a part of the Energy and Sustainability functional area which focuses on the development and implementation of environmental sustainability programs.

What you’ll do

  • Develop portfolio-wide energy management strategy that aligns with client’s short term energy cost savings goals and future long-term emissions-reduction goals.

  • Lead identification and prioritization of no/low-cost operational efficiency initiatives resulting in reduced energy consumption and cost. Work with facilities teams to implement.

  • Identify opportunities for utility supply cost savings such as demand response programs, rate and tariff optimization, rebates etc.

  • Conduct audits to identify and develop energy efficiency projects (may include HVAC, lighting, building envelope, demand response, BMS controls, renewable energy). Formalize scope, obtain vendor quotes, evaluate financial viability, perform project savings analysis, and drive project budgeting approvals.

  • Understand and calculate building energy consumption profiles and energy savings from projects.

  • Report clear and concise metrics on various energy and sustainability activities (cost and energy savings, CO2, water, waste etc.), and achievements monthly or as requested by client.

  • Manage energy benchmarking in Energy Star and other healthcare benchmarks.

  • Oversee management of utilities budgets and provide forecasts of utility expenses throughout the portfolio.

  • Execute strategies and programs to reach client goals.

  • Suggest improvements through the identification and implementation of opportunities across multiple real estate portfolios.

  • Integrate knowledge of energy procurement and new technologies with company platforms. Guide improved energy and sustainability performance.

  • Partner with facility managers to deliver energy efficiency advice. Present energy and sustainability status and progress reports to clients on a regular basis.

  • Verify global energy and sustainability standards are consistently upheld.

  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.

  • Influence parties of shared interests to reach an agreement.

  • Apply knowledge of own discipline and how own discipline integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and complex issues which may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. CEM and LEED accreditation, preferred.

  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.

  • Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Energy Manager position is $100,000.00 annually and the maximum salary for the Energy Manager position is $140,000.00 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
