The Acquisition Group is a proud vendor of TELUS Communications, one of the biggest telecom companies in Canada. As we continue to expand our business, we are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic individuals — with a desire to do something more — to join our team as full-time technicians for TELUS Smart Home Security installations in the Lower Mainland area.

What does a Technician – TELUS Smart Home Security do?

The Technician assists in the setup, installation, and troubleshooting of TELUS Smart Home Security products for customers so they can make their homes safe, secure, and future-friendly. The Technician makes sure the smart home equipment is installed properly to the customer’s satisfaction and addresses any issues they have during or after installation. They will be responsible for exceptional customer service, communication, and high-quality installations.

This is NOT a tech support over-the-phone position. You will be climbing ladders, pulling wires, and installing smart home security products like smart home cameras, different types of sensors, alarms, etc.

Technician - Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patiently assist clients with installing their smart home security services at their homes.

  • Drive to customers’ homes to install the equipment in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Troubleshoot any issues the customer may have.

  • Walk the customer through the products after installation and educate the customer on their usage.

  • Comfortable using a ladder, basic electrical and construction tools, wiring, and handheld equipment.

  • Responsible for taking care of and inventorying the installation equipment and keeping them in excellent condition.

  • Provide exceptional customer service and answer any questions the customer may have regarding the product in a polite and professional manner.

  • Must be safety conscious and adhere to all company and industry safety standards.

Basic Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s license.

  • Reliable Vehicle.

  • Commercial/Artisan vehicle insurance.

  • WCB or Private Insurance (injury/liability).

  • Able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Steel toe work shoes.

  • Basic tools for installation.

Tools the Technician will Require

  • Impact drill

  • 1/2” keyless chuck drill

  • Electrical pliers

  • Multi-bit screwdriver

  • Fish tape

  • Fish sticks

  • Electrical tape

  • Box cutter/utility knife

  • Multi-tool

  • Screws and anchors

  • Flashlight

  • Step ladder (4’-6’) (no work over 8’)

  • Voltage tester (optional)

  • Multimeter (optional)

  • Reliable functioning cell phone and nationwide plan

The Technician must be:

  • Experienced - Prior experience in construction or electrical or installations for 2-5 years is preferred.

  • Customer Service Oriented: Prior customer service or customer-facing experience will be a great asset.

  • Prior telecom experience: Prior telecom, security experience, sales, or work in related fields will be an asset.

  • Safety Focused: Adhere to the safety norms and protocols and wears appropriate safety equipment.

  • Comfortable Working Outdoors: Comfortable working in various weather conditions.

  • Self-motivated: Self-motivated to work with minimal direction or supervision.

  • Fully Available: Available to work on weekends and evenings as required.
