Our project team currently has a new opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, and programming of Rockwell PLC-based control system solutions for a variety of industrial processes.

The position offers occasional remote work and the ability to have a flexible schedule.

As an Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer in our Richland, WA office, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your background in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering and PLC/HMI programming by performing the following duties:

  • Work on project teams with other discipline engineers involved in the design of industrial projects that include Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based control systems, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and other industrial control system platforms

  • Prepare specifications and design media for the procurement and implementation of instrumentation and controls equipment

  • Through mentoring, classroom-style technical sessions, and on-the-job training, you will increase your knowledge and skills in your engineering discipline

  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs

  • Travel to equipment fabricator locations for system programming and testing

  • Develop your career via peer learning by way of S&L's systems of process and associated "Communities of Practice"

Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

Essential skills and experience:

  • BSEE or another degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program

  • A minimum of 10 years of industry-related experience

  • A desire for long-term travel to customer facilities to support programming/testing is required

  • A minimum of 2 years of PLC programming experience (Rockwell Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View is required) in an electrical or instrumentation and control engineering position

  • Experience with industrial communication design and configuration (Ethernet IP is preferred and a familiarity with Modbus and Profibus is a plus)

  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively

  • Experience with designing and testing automated machinery and processes at industrial facilities

  • Proven ability to interface with craft for troubleshooting and problem-solving

  • Experience with producing P&IDs, Control System Narratives, I/O Lists, Cause and Effect or Logic Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Factory Acceptance Test Procedures, and Software documentation including O&M manuals

    Salary Range

    $137,000 - $163,000
