What we are looking for:

We are hiring a Sr. Material Handler to support our distribution center located in Albany, GA. This position is responsible for supporting the distribution of goods within a cold storage facility and ensuring maximum efficiency, quality, and customer service in the most cost-efficient manner. As directed by leadership, the incumbent will ensure that the day-to-day operations of the facility and shuttle operations are executed properly and that all goods are maintained and distributed according to Company and government guidelines.

  • Utilizes best inventory practices to include issuing, receiving and handling as well as storing product in the consumable products industry in a frozen environment.

  • Works with Deployment and the Demand teams to ensure fill rate standards are met while meeting inventory level expectations.

  • Ensures cycle counts are reconciled to account for any variances. Maintains operational efficiencies for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments. Uses computer to retrieve product codes part numbers product quantities location information etc.

  • Holds 3rd party providers accountable for contractual obligations and service agreements including but not limited to space, third party labor, loading of trucks, management of inventory as well as damaged product and other associated waste.

  • Moves route trucks into place for loading/unloading (if applicable).

  • Builds and processes customer orders through Schwan’s Warehouse/Sales Management System electronically. Verifies that drivers have proper paperwork and ensures that trucks and trailers are properly loaded.

  • Ensure that all material handling and transportation equipment is properly maintained.

  • Conduct facility, pallet, and material audits.

  • May schedule defrosting and maintenance of trucks and trailers as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned which may include general maintenance work around the facility.

  • Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission values code of ethics policies and other standards of conduct.

    Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    Years of Related Experience:

    2+ years of related experience

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    Intermediate communication skills (both written and verbal); Intermediate computer PC skills; Basic math and reading skills; Strong attention to detail; Must be able to work in freezers with subzero temperatures.
