Chart Industries Field Service Engineer in Rheden, Netherlands

The Big Picture:

Howden Reciprocating and Centrifugal compressors (HCR), is a specialist supplier of tailor-made gas compression equipment to various industries. Our products have made a valuable difference for our clients for the past century, and we are currently looking for a Field Service Engineer who will assist us in making a valuable difference in the century to come in a company that is leading in the energy transition.

Our Aftermarket department ensures that compressors continue to operate for years to come through maintenance plans, supply of OEM parts, service calls and equipment modifications to today's technology or changed operating conditions and repairs. A Field Service Engineer perform and supervise installation, commissioning and start-up activities for new compressor systems, perform preventive and corrective maintenance on rotating equipment and provide technical services and advise to our customers. In this dynamic position, you will be based in Rheden, the Netherlands, but will be working on customers’ sites all over the world.

What needs to be done?

  • Perform and supervise the installation and commissioning and start-up activities of new reciprocating compressor systems.

  • Ensuring all activities are performed in accordance to both Howden and customer standards.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on rotating equipment, such as reciprocating and centrifugal compressors and steam turbines.

  • Be responsible for the safety of the site teams and the site, and lead by example in implementation of Howdens safety standards and core values.

  • Provide technical services and advise on varied and complex nature ensuring compliance with Howden standards as well as customer’s standards and procedures.

  • Responsible for all activities related to service and repair or maintenance products taken on for service/repair.

  • Be an advisor and a first contact for the customer, reporting both externally and internally.

  • Identify new opportunities: sales, service agreements, technical solutions, etc.

What do you need to bring?

  • Relevant technical background (Bachelor degree) and knowledge of rotating equipment.

  • Several years of experience as a Field Service Engineer on rotating equipment in a supervisory role.

  • Customer focus, flexibility, strong time management skills and a pro-active and constructive attitude.

  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • A good knowledge of maintenance concepts and process techniques.

  • An open and engaging communication style, ability to explain complex matters in a simple way.

  • Safety minded, enjoys working both independently as well as within a team.

  • Willing to travel around 70% of the time and up to 9 weeks away from home and travel globally with sometimes a short notice period.

  • Fluency in English is an absolute must, language skills in an additional language (f.e. Dutch, German, Spanish, French) is preferred.
