Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Summary:
Define Global Supply Chain strategies linked to the business strategies and regional supply chain strategies for Corning Optical Communications (COC)
Evaluate and recommend how to optimize the global capacity, capability, and cost opportunities within supply chains to meet customer and delivery goals
Maximize scalability, and adaptability to change, including market and business needs
Ensure strategic alignment to product life-cycle
Work collaboratively with sales, marketing and manufacturing management throughout the globe in the development of accurate demand forecasting and balanced production and inventory planning
Lead decision analysis process to determine optimal manufacturing location(s) for OCS products (internal and external) and reach consensus on decision with VP Manufacturing
Assist in the development of supply chain strategy and roadmap
Work collaboratively with Regional and Plant resources to:
Mentor and support regional supply chain managers
Aggregate demand information and facilitate global loading of demand with global supply
Highlight global challenges and opportunities (excess capacity and capacity shortages that impact cost and delivery) and drive capacity decisions to resolution
Develop and maintain global capacity models fed by regional models
Drive supply chain flexibility in staffed capacity allowing production lines to ramp quickly to capture upside revenue opportunities
Partner with cross functional stakeholders to ensure optimal balance between customer service levels, inventory and asset utilization
Leads the global S&OP process to resolve significant current/potential supply performance problems, demand bias, instability or error rates
Requirements:
Fluent in written and spoken English
Professional qualifications in supply chain management, operations, or engineering (BS Degree, Supply Chain degree preferable, or MBA)
5 + years’ experience in Manufacturing, Logistics, or SC Operations with demonstrated track record of results
Mastery of supply chain strategy best practices and philosophy in optimizing operations (Capability)
Understanding of process flow from fiber to finished solution (Capacity)
Ability to align and build teams to deliver results (Influence). Able to get things done by influencing resources across the globe that are not direct reports and may have conflicting regional priorities
SAP knowledge or understanding
Understanding of product and regional demand
Financial acumen (understanding landed cost and VAT to drive decision making)
Ability to simplify complex situations and deal w/ ambiguity
Experience in project management and superior organization skills
Strong communications (particularly upward within a global organization), leadership, and interpersonal skills
Minimum 25% travel time
