Excentium, Inc. is a Service-Disabled Veteran owned small business (SDVOSB) that provides Cyber Security Engineering, Information Assurance (IA), management, Certification and Accreditation (C&A), and other IT services to government and commercial organizations.

We have an opportunity for a Cybersecurity Engineer supporting one of our customers in the Reston VA and/or Remote.

MINIMUM CLEARANCE LEVEL: Public Trust desired CITIZENSHIP: US Citizenship LOCATION: Reston VA and/or Remote. Position Description: Supports the Sr Cyber Engineer with the implementation of security controls, documenting control implementations and developing SSP and POA&M documentation. Skilled in Risk Management Framework and in the use of tools designed to support system vulnerability testing and assessments. The Cybersecurity Engineer will perform day-to-day management of support operations, possibly involving multiple projects and groups of personnel at multiple locations. They will organize, direct, and coordinate the planning and production of all support activities and work products; demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills; establish and adjust (as necessary) structure to align with support activities. Coordinates, develops, and advises on security programs for an organization. Will provide recommendations for information assurance/security solutions to support the customers’ requirements. Identifies, reports, and resolves security violations. Establishes and satisfies information assurance and security requirements based upon the analysis of user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands. May direct or perform analysis, design, and development of security features for Federal system architectures. Analyzes and defines security requirements for computer systems which may include mainframes, workstations, and personal computers. Designs, develops, engineers, and implements solutions that meet security requirements Analyzes general information assurance-related technical problems and provides basic engineering and technical support in solving these problems.

Analyze and implements solutions to meet security requirements. Gathers and organizes technical information about an organization's mission goals and needs, existing security products, and ongoing programs in computer security. Participates in all phases of the systems lifecycle including preliminary and final design, systems development, integration, and testing. Serving as the principal liaison between the customer and supporting personnel for the specific task areas.

Position Requirements

  • Experience with Security Event & Incident Management (SEIM) tools (e.g. LogRhythm, Splunk).

  • Experience evaluating the cyber compliance of a system against Federal Cybersecurity policies and experience providing systems engineering, or operational support to the TSA, including supporting system administration, and systems security, including review of preliminary and critical designs, and subsequent configuration changes, to ensure compliance with established security requirements

  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, including DoD 8500.02, DoD 8510, NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53 or 53A, NIST SP 800-30, or CNSSI 1253

  • Understanding STIGs and ability to provide direction based on STIGs

    Educational Requirements/ Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements : Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications Engineering, Software Engineering

  • 5 years’ experience working in Cybersecurity

  • One or more of the following certifications

  • CISSP (or Associate), CAP, CISM, CISA and a Security+ ce

  • VMware Certification Desired

  • One or more of the following Microsoft certifications:

  • MCITP, MCSA, MCTS, MCSE, MTA, MCA
