You will lead specialized multi-disciplinary engineering teams, provide technical insight, and resolve design and construction challenges. You will also be responsible for performing technical reviews, engineering analysis, and presenting analysis and review findings at technical meetings. What you will be doing Lead the geotechnical design of complex transportation infrastructure projects containing major and unusual geotechnical features. Conduct technical due-diligence reviews of design deliverables, implement best practice for design and construction needs, develop innovative and optimized solutions, identify and mitigate key design risks, and ensure compliance with contract and industry requirements. Provide engineering evaluation and analysis duties: site and laboratory investigations, ground stratigraphy and parameters, ground and soil-structure-interaction modelling, advanced geotechnical analysis, instrumentation and monitoring. Lead specialized design coordination and liaison with external and internal Parties to provide technical insight and resolve design and construction challenges. Perform technical reviews and engineering analysis in an accurate, complete, and timely manner. Present analysis, review findings, and recommendations at technical meetings and to Clients, as requested. Capture and spread design innovation and lessons learned to all Districts. Maintain knowledge of Flatiron's company values and strategic plan. Support published corporate policies. Perform additional assignments per management's direction. What we are looking for Doctorate (PhD) in Engineering strongly preferred. 10+ years in geotechnical, structural, bridge, roadway, pavement, drainage, or related experience required. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Experience with soil mechanics, support of excavation, shallow and deep foundations, earth retention systems and slopes, ground improvement, dewatering, soil dynamics, numerical modeling in geotechnical engineering is an asset. Proven understanding of constructability and construction practices. Proven analytical, numerical and industry design standards knowledge required. Proven ability to identify construction risks or design optimization opportunities to provide Company with a competitive advantage in innovation or cost reductions. Ability to lead forensic construction analysis regarding post-construction documentation, data gathering, analysis and causal determination. Able to work efficiently in a high pressure, time sensitive work environment. Proven ability to delegate work in an effective way to share knowledge and grow internal team with experience.
