General Summary and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the planning and procurement departments within supply chain. Candidate will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of materials management, procurement strategies, and inventory optimization. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless flow of materials to meet production demands while maintaining cost-effectiveness and high quality.

Essential Functions:

  • Materials Planning Management
    1. Manage a team of planners to develop and implement materials planning strategies, ensuring adequate stock levels for production requirements.
    2. Analyze demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory levels to optimize materials planning processes.
    3. Collaborate with production, sales, and other relevant departments to align materials planning with overall business objectives.
  • Procurement Management
    1. Manage a team of buyers to procure raw materials and services.
    2. Evaluate supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and implement cost-effective procurement strategies.
  • Inventory Optimization
    1. Implement inventory control measures to minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
    2. Analyze inventory turnover, lead times, and order quantities to optimize stock levels.
    3. Develop and implement policies to ensure accuracy in inventory tracking and reporting.

Other Duties:

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, and quality control, to ensure alignment of materials management with overall business goals.
    2. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to address any materials-related issues and proactively resolve them.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    1. Identify areas for improvement in materials management processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
    2. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to drive innovation in materials management.

Job Specifications:

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in materials management and procurement, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
  • Manufacturing experience in supply chain is preferred.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of production planning and quality control principles.
  • Strong attention to detail, including organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate effectively in English, verbally and in written form, including ability to lead cross-functional discussions.
  • Ability to multitask and operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Contact with Others:

  • Works closely with all department staff including production, procurement, quality, logistics, product development, and others.

Supervision Received:

  • Reports to the Director of Supply Chain, but must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other departments.

Scope and Impact:

  • Performing duties to a high level is required to maintain customer on-time delivery, product quality, and brand equity.
