Generac Clean Energy Solutions is looking for a skilled engineering leader to drive the development of robust test solutions for high-volume production. You will lead a team of talented electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineers and technicians responsible for architecting and implementing automated test systems to validate our next-generation renewable energy products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of highly knowledgeable and collaborative test, electrical, mechanical, and software engineers. Challenge ideas and decisions with reasoning from first principles.

  • Enhance team resiliency and capacity through hiring and building internal leadership.

  • Architect and execute core technology test hardware platform to enable efficient development and scaling of automated test systems.

  • Drive test software development for performance, scalability, robustness, and tight integration with test hardware and products. Develop tools for diagnostics, testing, and validation.

  • Design comprehensive and reliable test procedures for high-voltage power electronics, battery modules, and product assembly.

  • Establish and maintain documentation standards for test specifications, electrical schematics, CAD drawings, validation and release plans, and system development timelines.

  • Collaborate and integrate with hardware design, system test, and firmware teams to develop efficient systems. Provide feedback to improve product quality and functionality.

  • Participate hands-on in software and system debugging. Drive improvements to meet accuracy, cycle time, and other performance factors.

  • Travel to different facilities worldwide, collaborating with teams and deploying our solutions.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering.

  • 7+ years of test engineering experience including mechanical product validation, functional safety validation, integration/automated test, hardware/firmware for power electronics/battery bring up, system testing, and manufacturing testing experience.

  • 4 years of progressive leadership experience in product validation.

  • Track record of delivering automated manufacturing test systems for products produced at 100k+/year scale with outstanding quality.

  • Excellent electronics fundamentals including architecture, understanding hardware schematics, power conversion devices, wireless design, and knowledge of likely failure modes and approaches to validate proactively to ensure robust hardware.

  • Strong skills in electronic or electrical system design tools.

  • Solid understanding of software fundamentals, including architectural design, algorithm development, data structures, code modularity, and maintainability.

  • Demonstrated excellence in concurrency, asynchronous programming, and distributed systems to achieve strict cycle-time requirements and maximize throughput.

  • Proficiency in system-level languages (such as Golang, Rust, C, C++, etc.) for designing products and automated systems.

  • Proven ability to build team depth through hiring and internal development of engineers.

  • Proactive, engaged, and positive approach to tackling challenging tasks, taking ownership, and being accountable for personal and team success.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
