Universal Engineering Sciences Construction Services Department Manager in Reno, Nevada
UES has an opening in the West Region for a Construction Service Department (CSD) Manager in the Reno, NV branch. The CSD Manager develops new clients and business opportunities while maintaining and building upon current relationships. In addition, the individual will provide overview and counsel on personnel organization, budget preparation, work schedules, and legal and client considerations. They are responsible for department and project staffing as well as encouraging and motivating team members.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage, maintain, and monitor CSD services including both field and office operations and personnel to ensure all testing and reporting is per required specs, testing standards, etc.
Assist marketing in business development, including attending short-list interviews, reviewing and evaluating RFPs/RFQs to help develop proposals and statement of qualifications.
Contribute to sales innovations, strategic business development and overall project profitability, in alignment with the company’s strategic goals
Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and change orders for new and existing work.
Oversee department Profit and Loss including management and controls of budgets, utilization, collections, and other costs impacting profitability of CSD services in coordination with the Branch Manager.
Continuously expand and update professional licensure and knowledge of department software and services (client and UES) to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
Meet with clients and establish and cultivate relationships to generate business for the department.
Actively coach UES personnel to ensure that all department personnel are properly trained, supervised and equipped with the necessary tools to foster their success and growth both personally and professionally.
Work with branch manager and HR directors to plan and supervises Staff Development program.
Work with laboratory department manager to ensure internal testing is meeting client requirements and deadlines.
Coordinate personnel and equipment within the department.
Qualifications:
Deep knowledge of different market sectors in construction.
Work well in a team environment and communicate clearly with co-workers, clients, and potential clients.
P.E. License in Nevada, or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
8+ years of relevant experience in construction material testing, with 3 + years in a management position.
Experience staffing, directing, and coordinating multi-disciplinary professional staff.
Experience in the effective use of scheduling and cost control techniques
Ability to motivate and train staff and to earn staff respect based on technical and managerial competence and abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience in the Northern Nevada market with ability to generate work with existing client relationships.
