Reno Orthopedic Center Athletic Trainer, Certified (ATC) in Reno, Nevada

As a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), you would be crucial to our mission because you would treat injuries due to sports or competition and educate patients on how to prevent injuries. On any given day, you could attend a local high school’s basketball game to triage in the event of injury or teach a patient in the clinic how to complete their at-home exercises.

*Note: This position is split with Washoe County School District to provide both outpatient and secondary school services.

What would you do as a Athletic Trainer?

The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of injuries in a manner that places emphasis on quality patient care. You can expect to regularly:

  • Perform therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation per Physician/Therapist;

  • Administer indicated therapeutic modalities and exercises and monitor individuals during treatments;

  • Create flexibility, strengthening, and conditioning programs to help prevent injuries;

  • Educate patients on injury prevention and at-home exercises;

  • Guide patients on the selection of protection/prevention devices and equipment;

  • Apply devices such as tape and braces;

  • Provide athletic training coverage in an outpatient orthopedic setting and an educational setting (i.e. local high schools and colleges);

  • Attend assigned sporting events and perform emergency first aid in the event of injury to individual/individuals including cleaning, dressing and bandaging minor cuts, bruises, lacerations, abrasions and blisters;

  • Recognize and evaluate injuries/illnesses of individual including assessing and managing concussions, inspecting injured areas and recognizing severity of trauma and functional status of individual;

  • Coordinate physical examinations and medical referrals and assist the physician in conducting physical examinations for individuals to determine their ability to participate in sports, competition or complete daily tasks;

  • Establish and maintain communication with team to provide day-to-day progress reports on injured individuals;

  • Refer individual to appropriate medical personnel and facility in the event of injury.

Requirements

Certifications/Education

  • Active Nevada State license through the Nevada State Board of Athletic Trainers;

  • Certification through the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification.

Note: New graduates are required to obtain their licensure and certification within 60 days of hire.

Work Environment

Physical: This position operates in an indoor and outdoor environment, exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures, depending on the weather. The noise level is usually moderate to high.

Travel: This position may require travel to other clinic locations based on manager discretion.

Schedule: Work hours and schedule could change based on company need.
