At V2X, we are making a difference by delivering decision support tools critical for the protection of our forces when threatened by both physical and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) threats.

As a Technical Writer contracted to support the Integrated Early Warning of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Sensors project for the Department of Defense (DoD), you will play a crucial role by creating comprehensive and easy-to-understand documentation. Your primary responsibility will be to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accessible documentation for a diverse audience, including developers, end-users, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:

  • The Technical Writer will consult with engineering and technical staff to prepare technical and end user documentation for software. Additionally, you’ll develop and promote the adoption of documentation templates for system, database, and program information. This role will function as a primary writer - responsible for deliverables of substantial scope and complexity.

  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, training, and user documentation.

  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of system documentation to reflect changes, enhancements, and bug fixes, ensuring that documentation remains accurate and up-to-date throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Write, format, edit, review, and proof procedural and technical information for technical and nontechnical users.

  • Prepare documentation to accompany system deliveries to customers, ensuring that all necessary documentation is provided to facilitate successful implementation and usage of the software.

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables.

  • Publish and maintain templates for written documentation produced by others (technical specifications, RFP responses, etc.), ensuring a consistent "look and feel."

  • Support document creation from the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs), ensuring that all contractual documentation requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Respond to customer inquiries and requests for documentation support in a timely and professional manner, providing clear and helpful guidance to ensure a positive customer experience.

    Material & Equipment Directly Used:

    Computer, Phone, and basic office materials.

    Working Environment:

  • Function in an office environment in a stationary position approximately 50 percent of the time or more.

  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, and printer.

  • Must be able to travel to customer sites and test events.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years technical writing experience through internship or work / life.

    Clearance Requirement:

    Must have an active U.S. DoD Secret (or higher) level Security Clearance.

    Experience / Skills:

  • Outstanding interpersonal, managerial, organizational, technical, leadership, mentoring, coaching.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts.

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) is a plus.

  • Must communicate professionally, in both written and verbal communications.

  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments and deal effectively with internal / external customers in a business-like and professional manner.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
