Salary Range: $170,000 to $180,000

ABOUT THE ROLE

Senior Special Systems Project Managers at Cupertino Electric are responsible for the day-to-day operations of special projects and the successful management of a high-performing team. Senior Project Managers provide internal and external coordination and collaboration with project partners and stakeholders. They are tasked with establishing team member roles and responsibilities and take the lead in defining the structure and communication expectations to ensure efficient work and progression. The Senior Project Manager will lead the special systems team in successfully managing the planning, execution, and financial performance of projects using business practices that are consistent with our company values – people, safety, integrity, innovation, and excellence.

Scope: Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).

Complexity: Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities.

Discretion: Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization.

Interaction: Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.

Supervision: Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing. In some instances this manager may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate employees.

Strategic Planning and Implementation :

  • Work at a high level, helping todevelop and implement the organization’s strategic planning.

  • Ensure alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives.

  • Have 5-10 years’ experience in progressive and design build progressions type of projects in the respective industries.

  • Have experience in @ or in excess of $50 million dollar projects.

Project Oversight :

  • Manage the progress of various projectswithin the organization.

  • Manage the project team and staff, ensuring effective performance.

  • Manage project timelines, ensuring that projects stay on track.

  • Must have knowledge and experience in multiple systems design, construction, commissioning, testing and integration.

  • Must be able to discuss systems scope from inception of a conceptual design to completion of all the systems.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and project deliverables big picture.

Budget Management :

  • Manage and oversee project budgets,preventing overspendingand ensuring cost control.

  • Track all costs to deliver projects within budget constraints.

  • SR. PM must have knowledge and experience in systems design, construction, commissioning, testing and integration specifically to costing models and projections.

  • They need to be able to budget systems scope from inception of a conceptual design to completion.

  • Manage estimating teams and communicate in a timely manner to keep the budgeting of the project and PCO’s on schedule.

  • Manage the project plan and overall logistics with direct and indirect cost planning.

  • Work with 3rd party budget review teams and support the estimating and management teams through this process.

  • Work with subcontractors and other internal groups so that in the big picture we have alignment and commitment.

  • Productivity track overall installation quantities and widgets.

  • Assist in QA/QC audits and reviews by system.

  • Ensure the pre-functional testing takes place and is carefully managed and documented.

  • Oversee testing plans and manage the process and results.

  • Instill and manage the safety plans and overall objectives.

Communication and Decision-Making :

  • Ensure and help manage all safety plans and followed daily and ensure the team understands different safety risks/issues that come with special systems projects depending on the industry like aviation and transit.

  • Communicate with team, making staffing decisions and prioritizing project tasks.

  • Send in reports to the executive staff and keep updated on the overall project updates.

  • Engage with project stakeholders to ensure that projects meet expectations and specifications.

  • Write and distribute project details and overall updates to the executive team in weekly and monthly updates.

  • Lead strong start-ups and the kickoff of each project is consistent and compliant.

  • Understand and communicate legal and contractual obligations to the team.

  • Assist in identifying and sharing the plan to the team to limit the exposure to the top risks of a project.

  • Manage and communicate company standards from top to bottom of the team and overall progression.

Strategic Direction :

  • Manage and deliver an on-time project with high standards and overall consistent quality.

  • Manage complex decisions and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

ABOUT YOU

  • Thorough knowledge of the estimating, project cost accounting, scheduling, procurement, productivity tracking and reporting principles necessary to profitably complete electrical construction projects.

  • Experience with union workforces.

  • Verifiable experience of safe, reliable and integrity-driven work habits, including working in unsupervised field settings, and remote office locations when appropriate.

  • Strong management and leadership skills, to include a history of leading teams with a passion for developing employees

  • Strong ability to influence and drive positive outcomes

  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Project. Experience with Accubid Classic preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education : High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred.

Licensure/Certifications : None required.

Experience : Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; At least five (5) years of Project Manager level experience in electrical construction or related activities in a leadership role and managing projects. 2 years of managing professional staff.

Driving Record : Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
