The Role

At Netflix, we aspire to entertain the world (https://jobs.netflix.com/culture) and are constantly innovating on how entertainment is imagined, created, and delivered to a global audience. We currently stream content in more than 30 languages in 190 countries, topping over 220 million paid members.

We recently launched a new ad-supported tier (https://about.netflix.com/en/news/announcing-basic-with-ads-us) to offer our members more choice in how they consume their content. Our new tier allows us to attract new members at a lower price point, while also creating a compelling path for advertisers to reach audiences that are deeply immersed.

To help us deliver this compelling experience, we’re looking for a highly ambitious, visionary, and experienced Senior Content Designer who will help shape Netflix’s ads consumer experiences for our users. This includes crafting innovative ad formats tailored to our wide variety of content and experiences, innovating within our existing ad canvases, and creating the future of advertising on Netflix.

You will also partner closely with other product designers working across our various member experience teams to deliver a delightful, engaging, and highly relevant Ads experience for our Netflix members.

This will be a remote-friendly role, with the freedom to set a flexible work-from-home schedule. This role would be best for candidates located in California or in the Pacific time zone, as monthly in-person travel will be required to collaborate with stakeholders and partners in Los Angeles, CA and Los Gatos, CA. That said, we can always make exceptions in location for the right candidate.

About Our Team

Our team designs the ads consumer experiences for Netflix. Our team’s primary superpower is the ability to design creatively and collaboratively in highly complex environments balancing the needs of our members and our advertisers through rigorous testing, empathy, and expertise.

You’ll be one of the lead designers who crafts these experiences and shapes the future of advertising across our product. More specifically, you’ll be a critical part of one of the most talented and trailblazing advertising design teams in the world.

  • You have demonstrated experience in content design/content strategy, UX writing, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.

  • You’re a storyteller at heart who can craft and orchestrate cohesive narratives across touchpoints, both in the product and in training and business settings.

  • You’re a systems thinker who’s familiar with the development of information architecture, design systems and language frameworks that scale.

  • You’re self-motivated, proactive, highly organized, and have a steadfast attention to detail.

  • You’re a product thinker who’s comfortable with innovating and finding creative solutions.

  • You work collaboratively to drive alignment and prioritization, while partnering with cross-functional peers across design, engineering and product, to define a strong UX.

  • You possess a keen sense of empathy for advertisers and consumers and a deep desire to mine opportunities in the space.

  • You communicate productively with visual thinkers and are comfortable presenting and advocating for your point of view in a candid, feedback-driven culture.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of relevant experience: UX writing, content design/content strategy, technical writing, taxonomy, and IA. In addition, past experience at an ad agency or digital agency would be highly valuable for this role.

  • Demonstrated experience synthesizing business requirements and user needs into UI content for consumer audiences.

  • Mastery of AP style and the confidence to know when to break the rules.

  • Ability to think critically about user journeys and content flows, and to connect the dots between them.
