Position Overview:

Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a Drupal Developer to support all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance. This position is part of a Drupal web development on a team supporting a large government agency based in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have exceptional programming skills, problem solving abilities and a focused work ethic . The developer will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and will be responsible for providing operational support and bug/fix to existing applications as well as supporting enhancement release and new development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work as a Drupal Developer on a team of programming and web application development for Drupal applications for the IRS.gov website and intranet.

  • Work with the Testing teams (Automated/Manual) to test, maintain and troubleshoot code for updates of the existing sites.

  • Contributing ideas and efforts towards internal projects and working as part of a team to find solutions on various problems.

  • Provide O&M support to current Drupal 10 site and work within a team of developers to plan/execute continuous improvement/migration to next Drupal version.

    Job Qualifications: •

  • BS in Computer Science or other related field (or combined with 3-5 yrs. relevant experience).

  • Solid understanding of HTML, Javascript and CSS.

  • Minimum 3+ years of Drupal hands-on development experience.

  • Ability to both collaborate with team members and to work independently.

  • Capable of handling a fast paced work environment, deadlines and new challenges.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug contrib as well as custom Drupal modules.

  • Knowledge of PHP sufficient to build, troubleshoot and debug Drupal module.

  • Knowledge of Drupal development best practices.

  • Strong knowledge of Organic Groups, SCALD, Features, Panels, and Views.

  • Skilled with basic UNIX command line tools, SSH, and especially Drush.

  • Experience integrating open-source and third-party applications into existing systems, especially within a Drupal framework.

  • Strong experience with Git and knowledge of GitFlow best practices.

  • Build templates, stylesheets, and UI elements using HTML, CSS and Javascript.

  • Proficient in Drupal, including custom module development, key contributed modules and core API

  • Proficient in the maintenance and administration of Drupal modules and sites.

  • Experience integrating open source and third-party applications into existing systems.

  • Familiarity with source control systems such as Subversion, etc.

  • Results-oriented, reliable, able to work under pressure

  • Ability to communicate technical ideas to business users and other teams (design, QA)

    Additional Skills

  • 3-5+ years’ experience with Drupal 7/8/9/10, involving large/complex enterprise Drupal projects / teams, ideally including multisite / ‘many sites’ projects.

  • Exposure to Drupal 10 and migration/module maintenance tasks.

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or comparable degree/enterprise work experience
