Job Overview:

As a key part of our environmental and sustainability services, APTIM's Energy Transition Team seeks an experienced Director of Energy Transition with significant consulting experience to grow and support business operations for our Energy Solutions related business. This is an opportunity for a Director level professional looking to further advance their career with an environmental leader, and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing APTIM's energy strategy.

APTIM's Energy Transition Team is a recognized leader in the marketplace. Our technical experts deliver highly innovative projects and complex client solutions providing the full breadth of energy solutions including energy management, carbon management, program management for rebate programs, smart infrastructure, and distributed energy resources (DER). We provide comprehensive solutions as a consultant to large commercial and retail customers, as an administrator and implementor of Demand Side Management Programs and as consultants providing emerging technology support and research services to utilities and state and local governments. Our consultants proactively collaborate with clients to define and implement strategies and campaigns around key business drivers, with the primary focus of finding and delivering high-impact projects that exceed expectations and meet the unique needs for our clients.

As the Director of Energy Transition for this team, you will lead, direct and carry out strategic and tactical implementation of energy and sustainability initiatives for APTIM clients and local communities. You will possess technical and operational expertise in the Energy Efficiency, Resiliency, Energy Management, Sustainability, Program Management, Demand Side Management Programs , and/or Emerging Technology areas and be fully accountable for successfully managing the service line team. You will also have the opportunity to integrate APTIM's demonstrated specialization in engineering, disaster recovery, facility maintenance, and construction services with established and new clients.

The successful candidate will have an extensive consulting background, deep skills directing existing operations and implementing growth strategies, and demonstrated successful experience guiding the development of effective capture strategies for targeted opportunities. Within this role, you will be a leader who is able to support start-up initiatives for new projects/programs with the client, including resolving any technical or logistical issues that may arise. Your primary function will be to interface either remotely or on-site, with the team to efficiently and effectively complete projects while providing the clients with an excellent experience. Outstanding communication skills are required as this individual will have interactions with the APTIM team, clients and partners.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Direct and Manage P&L responsibilities for the Energy Transition service line.

  • Lead and retain a team of focused professionals to grow APTIM's Energy Transition business.

  • Play an active part in the management team and collaborate with other executive peers to support the strategic direction of the Company.

  • Develop and implement strategic market/business plans, provide leadership to help the team expand APTIM's Energy Transition service area and award-winning client base. Serve as a key member of the "core" technical team to drive profitable growth of APTIM's Energy Transition business across North America.

  • Develop a working understanding of APTIM's other consulting practice areas and actively support cross-selling other services to expand existing client relationships that generate repeat business.

  • Identify and develop new business and revenue streams from new and previously under-explored and under-developed initiatives.

  • Support marketing, sales of large multimillion-dollar projects/programs, teaming partnerships and client engagement activities to implement business development initiatives.

  • Participation in industry and client organizations, trade shows, etc. as a strategic part of client development.

  • Work with Operations and Project staff to enhance client relationships across Operations and Project staffing levels.

  • Maintain infrastructure and systems to support the success of the business development program. Lead by example in use of CRM systems (Salesforce).

  • Be responsible for detailed and accurate sales and revenue forecasts (including secured and potential sales, strategic opportunities, competitive analysis, course corrections, market trends, etc.).

  • Maintain a culture of success, leading by example and setting clear expectations for performance, compliance with corporate requirements and collaboration across teams.

  • Travel required as necessary to perform duties.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

  • 15+ years of energy experience, with a high degree of technical competence and proficiency in rebate program management, energy management, distributed energy resource, power distribution systems, smart infrastructure, electrification, decarbonization and/or energy efficiency.

  • 10+ years of Operations experience with P&L responsibility.

  • Proven experience maintaining relationships with key client decision makers.

  • Well established reputation and recognized technical expertise by the marketplace.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams of 20+ people.

  • Excellent communication (written/verbal), strategic thinking, negotiation, presentation, and "people" skills.

  • Must be a self-starter, organized and have an ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.

  • Experience with CRM systems and sales process.

  • Experience in the design, development, and implementation of energy efficiency programs.

  • Tangible and documented project management experience.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA/BS in business, engineering (mechanical, electrical or environmental) or related discipline;

  • Experience in Salesforce software.

  • Familiarity with Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) concepts

  • Experience and passion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in staffing and client program delivery
