Job Description Summary

Commissioning and service larger power electrical equipment mainly in Marine, Oil & Gas, and Industry business segments. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve problems through immediate action or short-term planning. Tasks mainly requires high technical skills on electric machine such as Drive (Frequency converter/inverter), Switchboard, Automated Voltage Regulator.

In addition, provide technical backing & project outage management such as planning, site safety management and product issues for installation and commissioning of projects and provide maintenance, breakdown emergency backing and remote troubleshooting if requires.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Pre-commission, commission, and service static frequency converters (SFC) and variable frequency (VFD) low voltage and medium voltage drives/switchgear/transformers and power systems.

  • Provide technical assistance and supervision to customers on the installations.

  • Conduct on-site interpretation of data and technical instruction.

  • Hands-on on-site parts replacement, testing, and verification of electrical equipment.

  • Complete site documentations such as weekly safety update, installations check lists, pre-commissioning, and commissioning procedures.

  • Adhere with company Health and Safety policies and work in safe and best practice manner to ensure the wellbeing of personnel and equipment are not compromised.

  • Able to interface at upper management and peer’s levels of the organization both internally and externally in clear and methodical manner.

  • In charge for the whole scope of site activities from site mobilization to final acceptance, acting under the direction and on behalf of the Project/Service Manager. Lead the site team and manage the execution of the Project scope of work. For GE, also includes to Establish and maintain performance metrics to measure program/project success · Install process excellence support for program/project governance, project reviews, etc. Ensure that schedule, quality, and cost in compliance with contractual obligations, company policy and local regulations includes Install & Commissioning and retrofit & upgrade projects.

  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated execution project stage with technical variety and/or mutually supporting service and project management cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluent oral and written English/Chinese communication skills

  • Good understanding of Health and Safety, and risks / Hazards involved.

  • Solid understanding of Power Electronics, Electric Circuit, Electric Power Systems, Medium Voltage, Harmonics, with good hands-on skill.

  • Good documentation skills

  • Willing to travel 100% including distant in-country or aboard limited duration visits and with short notice in advance.
