VetsEZ Release Manager (Remote Opportunity) in Remote, South Carolina

VetsEZ is seeking a Release Manager to support a project with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This position will support Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System (MUMPS) code in support of releases within the VA's Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA). An ideal candidate should have experience creating and implementing a detailed release plan to ensure overall quality of all IT products, services, and systems. Must have experience in resolving project or program release problems and take corrective action, escalating as needed, to resolve and achieve results.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, manage and coordinate releases for VistA Imaging.

  • Construct a release management plan and design release guidelines for the project.

  • Oversee the various aspects of a project patches before they are due to be deployed, ensuring all teams are on track and meeting the agreed guidelines.

  • Manage and mitigate risks and resolve issues regarding release quality and schedule.

  • Monitor the release process and collect feedback from the different teams as well as customers for review.

  • Make improvements on a regular basis to the release process.

  • Perform SQA Reviews based on the VA Programming and Compliance Standards outline in the Department of Veteran Affairs M Programming Standards and Conventions (VA SAC).

  • Create branches in VA Git Hub and post final code builds.

  • Create and finalize documentation for code builds to include Version Description Document (VDD), Patch Description, Section 508 Compliance, Primary and Secondary Development Checklists and Initial Operating Capability (IOC) Compliance Forms.

  • Post documents to Jira.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer engineering or computer science.

  • 5+ years of experience with software quality assurance and software release or configuration management.

  • Experience with Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System (MUMPS) code in support of releases within the VA's Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA).

  • Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Transaction Application Suite (TAS) programs.

  • Familiarity with VistA file structure and communication protocols.

  • Knowledge of feature toggles, branch handling, continuous integration and continuous delivery.

  • Experience with VA Standards and Conventions (SAC Guidelines), GitHub, and Jira.

  • Familiarity with VA Filemanager, VA Forum System National Patch Module (NPM), SQA Review Process, Installing VA Patches.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment and meet required schedules and timeliness.

  • Ability to communicate technical issues and effective documentation skills.

  • Experience working with MUMPS/Cache.

Additional Qualifications:

  • VistA/Government Release Management experience preferred

  • Experience in the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA).

  • Experience with architectural frameworks (DODAF, FEAF)

  • HL7 FHIR Certification/HL7 International

  • Certified EDI Professional (or equivalent)

  • Ability to obtain a government clearance.
