Senesco Marine, LLC Outfitting Designer / Lead - (Shipyard Experience Required) in Remote, Rhode Island

Senesco Marine is looking for a Sr. Structural Engineer who can perform duties as outfitting designer and checker. The candidate must have prior shipyard experience that is fluent in AutoCAD and ShipConstructor. This person is required to have previous design experience and have an understanding of the marine industry.

This position is located at Quonset Point in North Kingstown, R.I. Open to Remote.

Duties:

  • Make decision with minimum oversight.

  • Design/Check hull structure, foundations, inclined and vertical ladders, doors, windows, hatches, and handrails.

  • Check production Packages by traditional Red-Line & Back-fix methods.

  • Ensure Production Packages match functional Design.

  • Ensure all details are based on Good Shipbuilding Practices.

  • Ensure all required BOMs & Reports are included and accurate.

  • Material Take Offs (MTOs).

  • Ensure that all information suits shipyard and fabrication methods and tools.

  • Mentor less experienced engineering personnel.

Skills and Requirements:

  • 10 Years' Experience in Shipbuilding (Detailed Design)

  • Associates Degree in related field or additional 5 years of experience.

  • 2 Years of Navisworks experience.

  • Knowledge of ABS and USCG Rules and Regulations.

  • 5 Years of AutoCad Experience

  • 3D AutoCAD and/or ShipConstructor experience will be a plus.

  • Must be proficient at MS Office Applications, especially Excel, Outlook and Word.

Physical Requirements for Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must Pass the Ishihara test for color blindness.

  • Must Pass a pulmonary function exam for positions requiring respiratory protection.

  • Able to lift tools up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces as small as 15”x23”.

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, kneel, squat, walk, sit, or stoop. Full range of motion.

  • Ability to work outside, if necessary, with exposure to outside elements, e.g. heat or cold.

  • Must have correctable vision to 20/40.

Work Demands:

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), e.g. hardhat, face shield, safety goggles, steel toe safety shoes, respirator as determined by a Senesco Marine Job Hazard analysis.

  • Employees must report all accidents and injuries to supervisors and the Environmental Safety and Health Department.

  • Employees need to work at a pace consistent to meeting company deadlines.
