GE Consulting Services, a part of GE Vernova, has offices in multiple countries and offers our global clients (external & internal GE) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. Our Power Systems Strategy team utilizes their deep knowledge of connected power grid planning, design, operation, and life-cycle management, to offer customized solutions to our global clients. Our Power Economics Practice offers analyses focused on the understanding and the study of the financial and physical operation of the electric power systems including generation and grid planning, system optimization, asset valuation, competitive power markets and energy policy implications. Over 700 entities worldwide use our Concorda Suite of software tools to assess the economics, performance, and reliability of interconnected power systems.

This Technical Director position will work alongside the Power System Strategy team leaders and Technical Directors to develop, lead, and successfully perform project work related to power system reliability and resource adequacy. The ideal candidate will be able to learn and utilize our GE MARS proprietary reliability modeling software (and/or similar software offerings) and be familiar with general reliability /resource adequacy concepts, such as capacity accreditation and effective load carrying capacity (ELCC). A candidate with experience using GE MAPS (or other production cost modeling software like Plexos / Aurora / Promod, etc.) and/or experience with coding in languages such as Python is considered a plus but not required.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Help develop new project work via responding to RFPs, building on work with existing customers, and more.

  • Lead and contribute to reliability and resource adequacy-focused work

  • Lead and contribute to other project work relevant to the team as needed and/or desired

  • Utilize GE’s Concorda Suite of software products and other software products as needed to complete the requisite project analysis

  • Present and/or communicate results of work via reports, memos, power point presentations and calls to variety of end-users, both internal and external to GE Vernova

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, economics, finance, or related major

  • 15+ years of experience in energy consulting, energy trading, power system planning or similarly relevant field

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed - travel requirements dependent on candidate location

Desired Characteristics

  • MBA or Master’s degree in engineering, economics, computer science, or finance (or related field) a plus

  • Experience in coding languages like VBA and Python a plus.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $78,700 - 131,100 USD Annual

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This Lead Professional Band position is also eligible for A Variable Incentive bonus of 10%.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
