Position Summary

New York Life’s Artificial Intelligence and Data (AI&D) team is looking for a Business Operations Manager to join our Strategy and Operations team. As part of this new and growing transformation team, you will define and document business processes, manage and deliver monthly expense, performance and budget reporting, build operational dashboards, and be a vital liaison to stakeholders and other functional business areas.

Responsibilities

  • Support cross-cutting, operational improvement projects that will increase business efficiency and reduce risk.

  • Define, document and automate business processes; document process flows for use by team members and external stakeholders.

  • Manage and report on departmental project level expenses, budget adherence, forecasts and planning, monthly and yearend financial accruals.

  • Maintain and support monthly departmental operations / project status reporting.

  • Partner with AI&D team to facilitate the creation or modification of reports and data as needed.

  • Track and report the team’s business goals and performance (OKR and KPI) metrics.

  • Provide reporting content for departmental Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) & Quarterly reports.

  • Act as liaison with internal functional partners (e.g., Finance, Procurement, Sourcing, Legal, Risk and Compliance) to facilitate company-wide processes.

  • Manage controls, i.e., departmental policy and procedure documents, schedules and budgets, metrics and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance

  • 3+ years of experience in operations, expense and/or program/portfolio management

  • Experience in data and or AI preferred.

  • Strong analytical and reporting abilities; proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, experience with Tableau or other BI dashboard software

  • Experience with process design and documentation including process mapping software.

  • Experience managing stakeholders and operating in a cross-functional environment, history of building strong working relationships.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities

  • Resourcefulness, persistence, and ability to thrive in fast paced environment.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and a strong sense of ownership.
