The North America Payroll Leader will be responsible for leading a payroll team to provide accurate and efficient payroll services and support to our U.S. & Canada GE Vernova employees. The Payroll Leader will manage a team of payroll specialists and partner closely with the outsourced supplier (Alight) to provide compliant wing-to-wing payroll delivery. Additionally, this leader will lead the organization that supports Canada Payroll and Benefits delivery. This is a strategic role responsible for building a brand-new team in GE Vernova to support the transformation of our payroll service.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team that designs payroll programs and policies (in compliance with federal/ state requirements), defines payroll schedules, special processing planning, documents business requirements, creates and deliver end-user payroll training

  • Own NAM Workday payroll in partnership with Alight (including stabilization and systems enhancements)

  • Produce and deliver required employee communications, champion employee experience, manage seamless service experience for tier 2 escalations

  • Develop and monitor: Payroll risk Controls and KPIs and vendor operational metrics monitoring

  • Payroll team operations management, coaching, performance review, resource management, priority setting

  • Build and lead a team of motivated payroll specialists, ensuring they have the resources and training necessary to perform their job duties.

  • Foster a “one team” environment with your team members as you mentor and coach them to grow their impact and collaboration within the business.

  • Create a strategic partnership with key outsourced suppliers to instruct and support outsourced payroll provider as we transition to an outsourced model

  • Manage and hold vendors accountable to contractual and operational targets

  • Partner closely with various collaborators (Finance, Tax, Total Rewards, HR client partners) to ensure payroll is processed securely as per defined procedures, guidelines, legal requirements and in compliance with local laws and regulations

  • Oversee Canada payroll and benefit operations to ensure timely, accurate and seamless customer service experience

  • Partner on global payroll/ time and attendance initiatives with the Vernova People Ops Global Solutions team

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related Business degree from an accredited university or college or minimum 10 years’ experience leading a team that provides effective payroll delivery in North America inclusive of managing external partnerships

  • Significant prior professional work experience with demonstrated achievement and leadership in Benefit plans, and/or Operations/Service-oriented environment.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in direct people leadership

  • Travel may be required, as needed, to support the team and customers within the region

  • To be successful in this role, you will need to have the ability to work in a complex and rapidly changing work environment across multiple stakeholder groups and countries, with comfort and efficiency

Desired Characteristics:

  • Operational experience in payroll delivery

  • Experience working with outsourced providers

  • Experience in Lean management

  • Sound project management skills, strategic thinking ability, process capability and analytical skills, with the ability to deliver results by supporting activities from concept to implementation

  • Strong problem-solving skills to quickly identify and present the creative/collaborative solutions in partnership with plan owners.

  • Strong communication skills: ability to influence with immediate team and across organization

  • Ability to make independent decisions and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, multi-task and highly matrixed environment, and connect effectively with business leaders.

  • Proficiency in HR systems (ex. Workday) and technologies

The salary range for this position is $ 141,200.00 - 188,300.00 - 235,400.00 USD Annual USD annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 15% variable incentive compensation .
