Johns Hopkins University Academic Program Assistant in Remote, Maryland

Johns Hopkins University’s (JHU) Osher Lifelong Learning Program is seeking a casual Academic Program Assistant to provide virtual administrative and logistical support to Osher members, faculty and staff. This specific role supports Osher at JHU online classes.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide office administrative support to Osher members, faculty & staff’s communication and schedules through e-mail, electronic calendar, and online meeting platforms (i.e. Zoom and Teams).

  • Use various software applications such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate, and/or format data, reports, documents, and other types of communication.

  • Using Ace ware database for entering member and prospective member registrations and report generation.

  • Provide occasional support to the Program Director.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.

  • Two years office/administrative experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year Degree is preferred.

  • Prefer experience in an academic working environment.

  • Experience using Ace ware Database, JHU SAP and preferred.

  • Experience working with senior citizens and lifelong learning programming preferred.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse constituents.

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Intermediate MS Office Suite skills.

  • Competency in using various software applications such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, graphics packages and electronic calendaring.

  • Excellent organization, planning and time management skills.

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems quickly, creatively and sometimes during unpredictable circumstances.

  • Demonstrated professionalism and patience regarding the needs of adult learners, especially older adults.

  • Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision and as part of a team.

Classified Title: Academic Program Assistant

Role/Level/Range: ATO 37.5/02/OD

Starting Salary Range: $16.20 - $28.80 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Casual / On Call

Schedule: 9:00am-8:30pm (no more than 7 hours per day) Primarily Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with an occasional Monday or Friday based on need, instead of Tuesday to Thursday
