Lead QA Manual Tester

Location: Remote in the United States

US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED

The Role: BlueVoyant is seeking a Quality Assurance Test Lead (Manual) to join our team to guide and implement best practices for manual testing in support of technology platforms

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and document test plans with well thought out test cases

  • Work with cross-functional teams to proactively improve on existing test plans and test cases.

  • Become a user expert on how our products work, gaining an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses

  • Assist in the definition of test environment and support requirements

  • Manual testing of new software

  • Both the pre- and post-release stage of the development lifecycle - black box and white box testing, etc.

  • Regression testing - look for problems and bugs in the system that users may encounter and help developers find solutions to the issues. 

  • Triage defects 

  • Ensure logged issues are quickly resolved

  • Ability to identify above the line/below the line issues in order to prevent critical bugs from being deployed.

  • Take ownership of issues in production environments that were not caught by QA with a mission to ensure QA practices are in place to prevent likelihood of recurrence

  • Monitor support channels to support proper defect logging and improvement of QA testing

  • Reporting

  • Analyze results of testing and provide high quality reporting with the goal to provide insights into coverage and completion

  • Demonstrate thought leadership

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of QA standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

  • Design and develop a testing process that will scale as the team grows

  • Share expertise with the team to improve test mindshare.

  • Grow coverage and depth of testing - data validation test cases etc. in addition to functional testing

    Qualifications

  • Prior working experience as a Lead

  • 6-10 years of testing experience

  • QA/Testing experience in a technology/led company, working as part of QA/Testing team

  • Experience creating and executing a test plan

  • Experience reviewing written requirements and UX documents to create test cases

  • Experience performing manual testing against test cases

  • Excellent understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle in an Agile environment. Excellent understanding of the different types of software testing

  • Black box, white box, etc.

  • Regression testing

  • Proficiency using ticketing systems (JIRA)

  • Experience logging high quality, thoroughly written defects

  • Experiencing learning new systems to expand test coverage, testing, and triage capabilities.

  • Basic debugging skills to better inform defect logging

  • Inspect from browser, etc.

  • Must bring Quality Assurance thought leadership to the table

  • Must be self-driven, independent, creative, and especially eager to learn new skills.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Extremely high attention to detail

  • BA degree in computer science or information technology or a combination of education and work experience

    Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow Experience

  • API Testing Experience

  • Providing requirements to automation testing
