R1 RCM Senior Manager Privacy Compliance in Remote, Illinois

(“R1”) is seeking a self-motivated Senior Manager, Privacy Compliance who can provide pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and actionable guidance to foster and drive implementation of the operational privacy compliance component of the larger R1 enterprise-wide, cross-functional global data protection program. A successful candidate will seamlessly interface with various business functions to identify and evaluate data and information privacy risks and assist in the design and implementation of a best-in-class strategy to eliminate, mitigate, and control such risks.

As our Senior Manager, Privacy Compliance reporting directly to the Senior Director, Privacy Compliance, you will support the overall and day-to-day operation of the R1 data protection program by 1) identifying opportunities for and implementing operational privacy compliance improvement across the organization, 2) designing, implementing, conducting, and overseeing privacy impact assessments and related follow up activities, and 3) designing, implementing, and overseeing data and information privacy training and education opportunities.

Every day you will:

  • Support R1’s proactive efforts to monitor, educate on, and promote compliance with all federal, state, and international privacy requirements;

  • Identify opportunities for operational privacy compliance improvement across the organization, working closely with and supporting, as necessary, other members of the R1 data protection team responsible for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on data privacy incidents;

  • Work with internal teams to remediate any activities for continuous privacy improvement, including managing projects for privacy and compliance enhancement;

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other R1 teams, including, for example, operations teams, to identify, design, and implement operational privacy compliance improvements across the organization in support of R1’s data protection program;

  • Design, implement, conduct, and oversee privacy impact assessments across the organization, and coordinate with clients with respect to their privacy impact assessments related to R1;

  • Address and implement corrective actions needed to address findings of privacy impact assessments by working cross-functionally to promote compliance with all federal, state, and international data privacy laws and client contractual obligations;

  • Design reports and other data metrics to summarize operational privacy compliance activities and privacy impact assessments as necessary to present and report to the R1 Chief Privacy Officer, other R1 senior leaders, the R1 Board, and/or clients;

  • Design, implement, and oversee all data and information privacy training and education efforts and coordinate with other R1 internal training teams, as needed, to facilitate training;

  • Initiate, facilitate, and promote other activities to foster information privacy awareness across the organization;

  • Collaborate with the R1’s information security team to ensure the implementation of reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the confidentiality of PHI in connection with operational privacy compliance efforts, privacy impact assessment findings and follow-up and training and education opportunities;

  • Achieve and maintain current knowledge of state, federal, and international privacy regulations, activities, updates, and guidance;

  • Assist in annual compliance and risk assessments;

  • Maintain focus on operational excellence through risk mitigation and protection of data to improve quality and customer satisfaction;

  • Assist in development of and enhancements to the company’s Compliance & Risk Program;

  • Demonstrate ability and comfort working with and reporting to a broad spectrum of service lines and professionals, ranging from senior management to front line site and service leaders, including clients and vendors; and

  • Flexibly assist in other areas of concern to the compliance team to benefit the Company’s privacy posture.​

To thrive in this role, you must have:

  • At least six (6) years’ experience of data and information privacy and/or compliance experience, in a hospital or health care environment, or within the health care industry more broadly.

  • Regulatory and subject matter expertise in health care privacy, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other state or international privacy laws.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Ability to think strategically and analyze complex compliance issues.

  • Proven research, writing and communication skills.

  • High degree of integrity, trust and ability to work independently.

  • Professional, ethical and discrete in maintaining proprietary and confidential information.

  • Ability to travel, approximately 10-15%

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $89,756.41 - $125,196.00 per year . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
