The Automation Project Manager/NPI Engineering Consultant is tasked with leading and overseeing the proper execution of assigned projects. As such, the Project Manager is responsible for the contracted performance and for reaching cost, quality, timeline, and customer satisfaction targets. The Project Manager is the customer’s main point of contact within the context of assigned projects.

Position-related tasks and responsibilities:

  • Convert a production process to an automation assembly line, with input from various departments, teams, and vendors.

  • Coordinate a cross-functional team (mechanics, electrical, automation, purchasing, production, etc.).

  • Plan and coordinate in detail the various phases of projects: pre-project, engineering, manufacturing, delivery, installation, etc.

  • Lead project-related meetings.

  • Regularly update the financial status of projects (the Project Manager is accountable for keeping projects under budget).

  • Provide regular status updates for projects.

  • Once projects are completed, prepare and present project post-mortem assessments that cover every aspect: financials, timeline, etc.

  • Assume personal accountability for the proper application of project procedure for assigned projects

  • Ensure on-time performance

  • Track and manage change orders


  • Take part in preparing requests for quotes for equipment, materials, and workforce depending on the needs of the Purchasing/Subcontracting department.

  • Take part in the study and analysis of quotes received.

  • Manufacturing/subcontracting:

  • Validate the appropriateness of purchases made in terms of allotted budgets.

  • Regularly track manufacturing progress, both in-house and by machine builders and subcontractors.

Customer relations:

  • Confirm that customer objectives are taken into account within projects, in terms of timelines, quality and compliance with technical specifications.

  • Bill customers in collaboration with the accounting department.

  • Take part in customer meetings depending on customer needs.

  • Draft contract deliverables


  • 7-10 years of Project Management experience required, with projects in the $5M range. Preferably with a machine builder

  • Engineering degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics.

  • Certified PMP preferred.

Travel requirements:

  • 30% global travel expected, with bursts during critical phases of a project
