GE Vernova Lead Government Project Controller in Remote, Delaware

Job Description Summary

The Lead Government Project Controller is responsible for executing projects with moderate complexity providing financial analysis in support of government cost accounting standards, pricing rates, labor reporting, job costing & invoicing. The role will ensure compliance with government reporting and procedural standards during project execution. In this role, you will meet day-to-day short-term objectives and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. You will report to the Marine Financial Controller and support one or more project managers in various phases of project execution across the Marine portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Lead Government Project Controller, you will:

  • Work closely with assigned Project Manager(s) to coordinate contract execution on larger projects/programs.

  • Track and report financial performance on government cost plus contracts including cost/labor reports, prepare billing and develop revenue estimate, processing of change orders, identify and track risks/opportunities along with potential claims, and ensure adherence to the GE’s project framework.

  • Interface with various functions within the business to monitor status of the project and ensure timely execution of project requirements.

  • Assist with development of project work breakdown structuring of equipment and engineering deliverables aligned with appropriate budget line items along with review of estimates to complete.

  • Track, monitor and report planned budgets/forecast vs actual spend using project controlling tools (SAP and Primavera). Provide variance explanations and possible recovery plan actions.

  • Manage government cost plus subcontract procurement and material tracking, review supplier invoice submission and issues resolution, and identify allowable and unallowable cost.

  • Support relevant and data-driven project schedules per customer requirements and develop reports to maximize critical path visibility to the project team while focusing on overall On-Time Delivery.

  • Be a self-motivated team player who can drive cross-functional teams and communicate the results effectively to customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or other relevant field.

  • Minimum of 5 years-experience in Finance operating or controllership roles

  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on government cost accounting experience.

  • Proven knowledge of CAS and FAR principles and regulations and E.G., Part 31 contract cost principals helpful

Desired Characteristics

  • Exposure to DCAA audit rules extremely helpful.

  • Demonstrated leadership in segment level Operating Finance or Controllership

  • Proven ability to provide and report financial results to internal management operating leadership

  • Proven ability to interact and communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Solid computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize SAP & MS Office applications.

  • Must be able to identify “need-to-know” scenarios and maintain strict confidentiality business matters.

The salary range for this position is 95,300.00 - 127,000.00 - 158,800.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
