General Electric Global Supplier Quality Engineering in Remote, China

Job Description Summary

Lead the GE quality cross-functional team for assigned suppliers within China Region. Own supplier performance results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards while managing action items. Lead escape investigations and manage RCCA completion. Collaborate with customers to resolve concerns. SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding.

Drive product quality for suppliers within the commodity including quality plan implementation. Own supplier First Article Inspection results and drive supplier compliance to Source Substantiation Plans or design intent verification. Provide supplier product release direction when part approval cycles are not complete while also being the internal quality focal for those parts. Collaborate with Global Quality, Supplier Quality Operations and New Product Introduction/Management of Change teams as required- this collaboration may include onsite visitation. Understand how the team integrates with other teams outside of Quality to meet short term and long term the business objectives.

Job Description

Utilize in-depth knowledge of the Quality discipline as well as analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy. Awareness of related job disciplines including business operations, purchasing, and engineering.

Own the GE-Supplier relationship within the Quality function. Manage supplier performance, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards. Lead action item reviews. Drive supplier accountability for sub-tier supplier performance. Lead escape investigations and manage associated RCCA activities. Collaborate with customers to share results and resolve concerns. Lead customer return investigations and provide feedback regarding findings. Complete read-across activities within assigned commodity. Lead Quality assessments and audits, manage associated RCCA activities.

Cross functional responsibilities will include support of business-critical product quality engineering and new product introduction (NPI) activities.

Other activities associated with the SQE role include Source Profile maintenance, Completion of Priority Parts Reviews, and management of supplier action plans within Supplier Rating System.

Have a technical understanding of engineering drawings and will have the ability to manage suppliers and/or quality projects related projects

Develop in-depth knowledge of a discipline. Use prior experience and acquired expertise to execute functional policy/strategy.

Communication with direct colleagues and the business on the status of First Article Inspection and Source Substantiation Plans Impacts projects, processes, and procedures in own field. The role operates with some autonomy, but is focused on execution of activities/provision of advice within an enabling

discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Activities require professional judgment but may require more senior levels of guidance

Utilizes technical expertise and judgement to solve problems. Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, engineering or supply chain is preferred.

At least 5 years of experience in supplier management, supplier quality, shop operations, and/or manufacturing engineering.

Experience leading root cause and corrective action analysis.

Experience with OEM quality systems, supplier quality procedures, and first article qualification process.

Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time (International travel may be required).

Strong change management and project management skills.

Desired Characteristics

Strong quantitative and data analysis skills with a demonstrated LEAN / problem-solving mindset.

Ability to assess supplier technical capability and capacity.

Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.

Proven project management and process improvement ability.
