Your day at NTT DATA

Experienced and highly motivated Director of Global Estimating specifically focused on data center construction projects. This role is responsible for managing the global estimating team and thus accountable for the entire estimating program across all NTT GDC Projects. This will include establishing global standards, processes, and procedures and implementing them across the portfolio of projects. This position will play a critical role in strategic decision making through project cost development from concept through completion to ensure financial success of the projects. This position will also be responsible for developing long term capital planning based on the strategic roadmap and ultimately develop reasonable and competitive budgets for project funding. The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders, to ensure commercial success of the projects.

What you'll be doing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the team of estimators (internal and contracted employees) that will carry out all functions of the estimating team. This includes setting goals and aligning on deliverables of each team member to achieve the strategic objectives for the organization.

  • Develop an estimating program that will intelligently inform executives and managers throughout the entire project life cycle. Early focus will be on creating standards to develop conceptual estimates for new project business cases when very little design information is available. This will then lead to value engineering estimates to enable good design related decisions. Individual will also oversee traditional project estimates based on Schematic Design or Detailed Design information.

  • Develop and implement standardized estimating processes, procedures, and tools across all regions to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all estimating activities, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and project requirements.

  • Oversee the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects.

  • Ensure estimates are comprehensive, covering all aspects of construction, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

  • Validate and review cost estimates to ensure they meet project goals, budget constraints, and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop project budgets and financial models that align with corporate objectives.

  • Develop, maintain, and use internal and external benchmarks to help plan for project execution.

  • Provide input on project feasibility studies, risk assessments, and value engineering efforts to optimize costs and maximize project value.

  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and economic factors that may impact project costs, and adjust estimates accordingly.

  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on matters related to cost estimation, budget management, and project financial performance.

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of cost estimates.

  • Lead post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in estimating practices.

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends to enhance the company’s estimating capabilities.

  • Ensure that cost auditing and valuation work is managed effectively and that a robust process for cost validation is in place.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Lead and mentor a global team of estimators, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to develop accurate and detailed cost estimates.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior executives and stakeholders.

  • Must possess a clear understanding of the full construction life cycle.

  • Proven capability to perform all forms and types of estimates from parametric to bottoms up and high level what-if scenarios.

  • Possess and demonstrate a full range of understanding and appreciation for the estimating process and how it ties to the overall organizational goals.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills beyond estimating practice.

  • Capability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Possess multidiscipline experience and understand and be able to estimate all facets of a data center construction project.

  • Ability to clearly set and lead meetings to review and discuss estimates or estimating activities.

  • Ability to be highly confidential.

  • Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Estimating software and Outlook.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Manages stress and/or fast pace effectively.

  • Excellent analytical, creative thinking, written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role, preferably within the data center or large-scale infrastructure sectors.

  • Proven experience leading global teams and managing complex, large-scale estimating projects.

  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices

  • Experience with Construction Estimation Software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.

  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.

  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel required 25% of time.

  • Occasionally work on site

  • Perform work from a remote location with stable internet connection.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $168,000.00 - $210,000.00.

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
