What you'll do

As a Senior Strategy Manager on the Strategy & M&A team, you will be focused on creating and executing on the growth strategy within our Consumer Goods division. You'll collaborate with other members of the Strategy & M&A team, and work across the TAC organization and the broader TELUS enterprise on strategic planning, executive reporting, and market research. You will also work closely with the Corporate Development and Ventures team with assessing potential acquisitions and investment targets, as well as supporting transaction execution and due diligence.

Here's how

  • Research market opportunities and growth rates for select industries within the Food, Beverage, and Consumer Goods space.

  • Source and qualify acquisition targets that align with strategic growth objectives, generating a pipeline of buyable revenue opportunities

  • Lead and support inorganic strategy development for the Consumer Goods business unit and ensure alignment across TAC as well as with the broader TELUS organization. This means developing regular updates to our executive team, and working on ad-hoc executive analyses as required.

  • Act as an internal consultant and work with team members across all levels of the organization to have the right conversations at the right time to turn strategy into action.

  • Work closely with the Consumer Goods Business Unit, as well as our Corporate Development and Ventures teams, to effectively oversee the strategic development, evaluation, and thorough examination of potential acquisitions and investment opportunities. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive presentations that highlight your findings and analysis for senior management.

  • Contact software leaders and engaging in meaningful high-level discussion, leading to eventual acquisition transactions

  • Deliver in-depth commercial due diligence alongside a collaborative team, ensuring informed investment/acquisition decisions

  • Support the development of sophisticated financial projections, analysis and valuation of inorganic growth opportunities including acquisitions, joint ventures, and other initiatives

  • Build and update the inorganic strategy roadmap for the Consumer Goods business unit, identifying short-term to long-term opportunities, relevant synergies & risks, as well as assessing market dynamics in the FBCG space

You're the missing piece of the puzzle

  • 7+ years of work experience in business strategy, consulting, equity research, or market/competitive intelligence

  • Outstanding presentation development with strong experience building executive-level material; ability to present complex information in a clear concise manner for maximum impact

  • Prior experience with software solutions in the Food, Beverage, or Consumer Goods industry (e.g. trade promotion, sales enablement, retail execution, etc)

  • Prior experience researching, assessing, or growing SaaS companies

  • Prior experience leading or supporting M&A and/or Ventures strategy and transactions

  • Prior experience with analyzing financial statements (ratio analysis, performance return measures) and basic understanding of financial valuation methodologies (discounted cash flow, payback period, comparable company analysis)

  • Strong financial modeling skills including ability to develop driver based business case analysis including NPV and ROI analysis

  • A growth mindset that fuels continuous learning an improvement

  • Experience working with and presenting to all levels of leadership

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization with global business partners

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Accounting, Economics, or other quantitative disciplines.

  • Nice to Have: MBA, CFA, CPA
