Job Description This job is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites. Job Responsibilities Responsible for operating the Company's Electrical System on rotating shifts. Issue clearances and switching orders to qualified field personnel for all distribution lines and equipment 34kV and below, transmission lines as directed by the Senior Power Dispatcher and SCADA switching in compliance with established Company Standard Practices and Procedures. Perform duties within the assigned Standard Operating Practices (SOP) for System Operations. Must be knowledgeable and comply with all Company standards, policies, practices and procedures and State and Federal safety regulations as they pertain to the job. Perform similar and incidental duties as assigned. The System Operator Trainee will be required to perform all of the above duties under the direct supervision of the System Operator and/or System Operator Training Committee (SOTC) until they successfully pass the Level I exam. Minimum Qualifications Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and have a basic understanding of electrical distribution and transmission. Must have five (5) years with the Company, of which at least three (3) years must have been in an electrical operations group. Must have successfully satisfied pre-qualification requirements as determined by the SOTC. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with Company personnel, Service Providers, Contractors and the public. Must have basic computer skills. Must possess a valid drivers' license. Additional Information The duties and responsibilities are performed in an office environment. The position involves sitting, standing, walking, light to moderate lifting, light carrying, bending, reaching, keyboarding, and radio and telephone operation. Conditions may also involve climbing stairs and/or ladders. The environmental conditions include ambient inside temperature, lighting, noise levels and occasional outdoor work.
