Duties:

Develop software interfaces for a variety of off-the-shelf and custom sensors. Develop reusable software building blocks to allow for fast prototyping in C++ and Python. Apply knowledge of real-time perception systems to accelerate development of reusable software for perception components. Integrate and implement system-level software solutions to facilitate research activities. Work side by side with researchers, and research software engineers to understand workflows, prioritize solutions, and create and improve systems the team relies on. Apply knowledge of relevant research domains along with expert coding skills to platform and framework development projects. Build software, tools, infrastructure, documentation, and other systems that enable research scientists to be more effective and efficient. Coordinate with a large set of internal infrastructure and tool teams across the lab and across Meta to evaluate and integrate with existing systems. Participate in design reviews and code reviews for the software team. Work with unfamiliar hardware at the SDK level to integrate systems together. Write clean readable code, and debug complex problems that span systems.

 

Requirements:

 

Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field. OR Employer will accept 2 years of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.

Position also requires completion of a university-level course/research project/internship/thesis, or 6 months of experience in the following: 1. C and C++, including modern concurrency concepts; 2. CPU data caching, SIMD instruction sets, and compiler code generation; 3. Creating, extending, integrating and maintaining 3D engine systems such as graphics rendering, audio, physics, networking, and animation; 4. Socket based network programming; 5. Software libraries, such as Boost, OpenGL, and Cuda; 6. Software development practices including source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging and profiling; and 7. Code bases covering different layers in the firmware/software stack.
