As a Service Engineer on the Azure Storage team, you’ll work on varied tasks and projects. The primary focus for this role will be as part of the qualification team that owns component level hardware and firmware performance testing for azure storages massive server fleet. We are looking for someone to drive qualification, recognize patterns, and show initiative towards improvements. This position will put you on a team that has a critical impact on how Microsoft's storage fleet evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and deliver high-quality engineering support services and execute robust operational workflows in support of Azure Storage. 

  • Collaborate across the Azure Storage organization to define extensible and sustainable service solutions that meet the needs of a diverse set of hardware qualifications. 

  • Takes responsibility for whatever project they are assigned and completes them in a timely manner at the highest quality.

  • Completes Hardware tests, validating performance, and identifying bugs and applies, extrapolates, and identifies best practices and shares information with other engineers to reliably build improvements that are based on well-established methods.

  • Demonstrates and maintains an up-to-date understanding of evolutions in hardware technology and the effects those changes have on capabilities..

  • You’ll help implement high-performance solutions across teams while maintaining a quality checklist with help from other engineers. You’ll also monitor telemetry data and perform basic analyses under guidance to triangulate failures.

  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experiences in testing, troubleshooting, debugging.

  • Experiences working across disciplines, groups, and teams. 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,

  • OR related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering,

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience coding in C++, PowerShell. 

  • Hands on knowledge of server hardware and configuration inclusive of HDD, SSD, and advanced ASIC

  • Passion for driving, improving, and helping to implement security and business continuity solutions.

  • Experience in data analysis

Service Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,400 - $151,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,300 - $165,400 per year.
