Microsoft Corporation Senior Security Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

We are looking for a customer focused Senior Security Program Manager to support an externally facing program that helps Microsoft earn the trust of governments and international organizations around the globe. We recognize people will only use technology they trust and we strive to demonstrate our commitment to building trust by providing visibility into our technology which governments and international organizations can use to better understand the security of our products and services and to better protect themselves and their citizens from cyber-attacks.

Along with the program lead, you will help build relationships across Microsoft and with key government customers and deliver a demonstrably effective program. To do this, you will help program participants maximize the value of the resources offered by helping them thoroughly understand and operationalize the threat intelligence data streams the program provides, build informative and educational dashboards and support integration requests. You will work with participants to understand their assurance needs and partner with teams across Microsoft to ensure effective assurance artifacts are available to program participants through a variety of mechanisms. You will also help coordinate and build effective agendas for in-person and remote technical visits and briefings. As meaningful engagements develop and trust builds, more questions and requests will arise, and you will also work with contacts across Microsoft to get answers to participants cybersecurity questions or to connect them with the correct resources.

The program’s success depends on contribution from engineering teams across Microsoft and you will need to build and maintain cohesive relationships with subject matter experts across Microsoft to deliver existing content, gain their support for technical briefings and resolve unique security questions channeled through the program.

In addition to your core responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to maintaining Microsoft’s engineering security requirements, using data to build understanding around security risk and contribute to open-source security projects. Responsibilities

The Senior Security Program Manager is responsible for helping run the day-to-day operations of the Government Security Program, with the support and backup of the Program Lead. They will help the Program Lead determine the future direction of the program and understand where challenges occur. The ideal candidate will have good customer-facing skills and be able to build relationships with internal partners. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Be an effective participant advocate and ensure they receive the information they need to build trust in Microsoft products and services. Specifically, this includes having conversations with participants to help them understand the program, ensure they can effectively use the information they have access to, and collect feedback.

  • Partner and collaborate with the stakeholder community across Microsoft to ensure services and data meet customer expectations. This includes working with our internal partners (who provide information to participants) to address any feedback/issues and ensuring the overall effectiveness of the information shared through the program.

  • Maintain integrity of the program by performing business reviews of new agencies, ensuring they meet the program requirements.

  • Support occasional visits by program participants by organizing agendas and providing in-person oversight during the visit, with support of GSP Lead and team members.

  • Maintain and build program documentation, training, and reporting.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements as these are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
