We are seeking a motivated software engineer who is passionate about artificial intelligence and would like to translate this passion into a commercial reality through a cloud service in Azure reaching thousands of customers and being implemented through millions of servers. The candidate would be a local AI expert who would contribute to the definition, implementation and deployment of an AI system (complete vertical stack from applications to the silicon). Ideally the candidate can navigate AI frameworks, intermediate layers like ONNX, compilers, and then collaborate with hardware system and chip architects. While Microsoft has large talented teams of AI engineers working on multiple software projects throughout the company, this position is located within the hardware system team for Azure with a specific emphasis on delivering second-to-none AI services to our internal (e.g. Bing, Office 365, Xbox Live, etc.) and external customers.
Primary responsibilities include:
Being able to identify and later optimize AI-oriented applications through software optimizations on novel AI systems and chips.
Work with architects and microarchitects to determine needed experiments
Implement these experiments by modifying apps, implement libraries, work with the compiler team, etc.
Run simulators on large pool of servers and analyze the data
Document and present findings to hardware and software architects
Interact with multiple software teams inside Microsoft
D in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or
B.S. in Computer Science with 4 years of development experience including 2 years in artificial intelligence
Skilled in working with senior architects and microarchitects
Good communications skills for understanding what features and for describing findings
