Strategic Engagement Engineering and Programs Office (SEPO) works under Microsoft’s Health & Life Sciences Chief Strategy Officer and is one arm of the HLS S&P Strategy Team. Our overall team charter is to work across all of Microsoft to help develop/advance the overall HLS mission at Microsoft. We act as a key voice of industry and our customers by creating and driving market segment strategies, identifying and helping to execute high impact strategic partnerships, supporting the development and delivery of strategic client and partner engagements, and leading the evolution of the patient engagement business into an extension of our HLS platform.

SEPO serves as a partner to industry and research organizations to support and scale the most strategic engagements for HLS Engineering across prioritized customers, ISVs and GSIs. We are a single interface aligned to internal collaboration on complex engagements, the hardening and accelerating adoption of Microsoft products, and working with customers and partners to solve for the most complex use cases in the industry.

We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager who can work with customers and partners to ideate on how best to solve complex industry use cases utilizing the horizontal and vertical strengths of the MSFT+Nuance platform. HLS S&P is interfacing with strategic customers and partners across different segments of the healthcare industry including Payors, Providers, Public Institutions, Pharma, Life Sciences, MedTech, Medical Imaging and Diagnostics. This includes segment needs across the entire Microsoft stack including infrastructure, data, GenAI and applications. The candidate will have experience specific to the Provider and Life Sciences segments as well as familiarity with such specializations as multimodal data, genomics, medical imaging, claims data, clinical trials and others.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate technical and strategic concepts in the AI and machine learning domain to a broad audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders/personas in the health and life sciences ecosystem.

  • Identify and articulate customer/partner needs, document requirements, establish priorities, refine strategy, and define product scope.

  • Identify and collaborate with internal stakeholders and priority partners to support the hardening and adoption of Microsoft products, and how they can be utilized or advanced to solve for HLS industry use cases.

  • Support data scientists, designers, engineers, user researchers and other SMEs who enable Engineering’s research, technical analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and deployment of Microsoft solutions.

  • Achieve team goals by working with internal and external stakeholders to plan, scope and manage timeline driven considerations.

  • Mitigate risks and dependencies by prioritizing tasks, adjusting scope and working to optimize resource allocation.

  • Define, measure, and communicate key metrics reflecting progress.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 3+ years’ experience in technical program management or related business experience in a healthcare, life sciences, technology or machine learning environment.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • A balanced strategic, operations and technical skill set that will enable championing strategic engagements across the full spectrum of the Microsoft stack, with specific expertise in the HLS Provider and Life Sciences segments.

  • Experience with Microsoft/Azure products and solutions, and technical knowledge regarding machine learning (including NLP) and foundation models.

  • Capable of managing complex, cross-functional projects with focus on program strategy, implementation, maintaining RoB, and keeping day-to-day tasks aligned to Microsoft’s strategic goals.

  • Known for project management capabilities including defining OKRs, designing and facilitating roadmaps, developing and managing budgets, multi-tasking, formulating and maintaining customer/partner relationships, and influencing stakeholders and team members.

  • Motivated by business outcomes and data-driven decision making.

  • Candidate will have experience (1) in at least one HLS industry segment (Provider or Life Sciences preferred), (2) working in a complex organization across multiple functions, (3) working on engagements with large HLS customers, and (4) technical competence (preferably Microsoft).

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
