Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will define mfg test methodologies to support the verification of product functionalities following the assembly process of PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assembly), storage enclosures, and racked assemblies within the ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) & System Integrators & Contract Manufacturer sites. Ownership may span across both NPI (new product introduction) and sustaining phases. Regular may include:

  • Leads the development of test hardware and software/firmware to support the verification of product functionality.

  • Responsible for the MTE (Manufacturing Test Engineering) end-to-end development and delivery of thermal and/or mechanical test solutions for the GPU ( Graphics Processing Unit), CPU (Central Processing Unit), and associated platforms/Racks.

  • Lead, develop, and design manufacturing test in new liquid cooling products. Collaborate across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and offering teams.

  • Responsible for Test architecture and development for advanced liquid cooling technologies, including macro and micro trends, including but not limited to subcomponent and sub system development trends on thermal transfer fluids (Air, liquid) and their interactions with other components within the system/solution. Mechanical components (pumps, manifolds, piping, connectors, controllers)

  • Analyze and optimize thermal solutions for densely packaged consumer electronic products.

  • Leads the development and validation of test strategy, product design and methodologies.

  • Leads the development and maintenance of core product-test content and requirements, monitoring of weekly production yield data for test and product issues, test development to catch manufacturing defects and ensures reusability of existing tests.

  • Leverages resources and exerts influence to achieve high level manufacturing test engineering product goals.

  • Drives improvement of effectiveness and efficiency by leveraging information gathered from process/test-system to identify and remove non-value elements from products. · Defines key performance indicators (KPIs), determines how to evaluate metrics, and translates decisions into business value (e.g., return on investment [ROI]).

  • Oversee implementation of set target/test cases, rationalizes cost of targets and maps targets to customer impact.

  • Works across teams to ensure that verification process is stable enough that there is enough time in the schedule to fully complete verification.

  • Ensures that each program/product has documentation specifying what needs to be tested and covered at all product stages.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 8+ years enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field, AND 4+ years of enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience

  • OR Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (Hardware) or related field AND 3+ years of enterprise computer, consumer electronics design or hyperscale supply chain systems experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with data center cooling infrastructure and/or compute system cooling solution

  • Experience leading development projects from incubation to actualization, ideally specializing in advanced thermal technologies and work experience with CPU or GPU test tool development, direct experience in incorporating them into manufacturing test flows.

  • 3+ years’ experience in diagnostic tool or utility development with electronic devices and functional test technical manufacturing facilities or at contract manufacturing site with high-volume production as a Mfg Test Engineer.

  • Experience on Linux operating system. Able to read/write script or issue commands upon Linux.

  • Experience troubleshooting with engineering team on manufacturing related issues with test systems and storage enclosure products.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of rack level test framework and methodologies

  • Experience with server products

  • 7+ years’ Python scripting programming experience

  • Understandingof the design and manufacturing process at the PCBA and enclosure level

  • Knowledgeable about SW test development and proficiency on any kinds of source code control tool

  • Working knowledge of computer subsystems, component interfaces, add-on boards, electronic test equipment.

Manufacturing Test Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
