Part of Azure Hardware Systems & Infrastructure, the Silicon, Cloud Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team is looking for a Hardware Product Strategy & Technology Lead to join the Leadership Team charted with understanding, shaping, and accelerating our Hardware Engineering product portfolio across the lifecycle from strategy, technology development, product design and fleet management and drive the transformational journey to industry best in class.

Part of scaling a complex organization, the Hardware Product Strategy & Technology Lead will partner with the leadership team to help run the organization. We are looking for someone who can think at scale and think across a broad technical spectrum to understand problems, put together solution frameworks, and communicate with executive leadership, to the execution team, and across organizations about our HW strategy and technical priorities. This will require the candidate to have experience with silicon development to systems development enabling effective communication and influence across the organization building out capabilities in digital transformation and technical program management. We are looking for someone willing to learn and able to jump in on a breadth of topics and dive into technical details, from product execution to silicon architecture to systems design.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis, synthesize findings, develop recommendations to drive hardware systems and silicon strategies and create executive level keynotes. Topics ranging from industry intelligence and benchmarking, mid-to-term operations and engineering optimization.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive implementation of strategic projects: from defining plan, monitoring progress, tracking Key performance indicators to delivering result and institutionalize

  • Serve as trusted advisor and support other Engineering teams on fact-based analysis and communication material development

  • Lead communications with executives and cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment, ensure execution and report progress on complex technical information

  • Drive direction: Provide thought-leadership and define a strategic agenda for Microsoft cloud hardware infrastructure

  • Create and deploy standard practices for our Engineering Ecosystem

  • Deep Dive with tech leaders to define and prioritize technology concerns: scaling, performance, security, and operations

  • Evolve performance benchmarks, lead analyses, and prepare reports on the Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) across engineering, manufacturing, and fleet operations.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Master's degree in Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in hardware development.

  • 2+ years of experience in Management Consulting, Engineering Operations or Corporate Strategy

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment

  • Verbal and written communication skills at all levels within the organization

  • Experience in leading strategy projects involving cross functional teams

  • Experience in owning exec-level communications.

  • Demonstrated capability in driving analysis, problem-solving and strategic thinking

Hardware Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
