Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth including AI! CSCP’s vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud Capacity Differentiated at Scale. Our mission is to deliver capacity for all cloud services predictably through intelligent systems driven by continuous learning and a world class organization. The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.

We are hiring the Director of Silicon Supply Chain to lead a team that manages the supply chain for Microsoft’s own designed silicon, Maia and Cobalt. In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage your semiconductor manufacturing experience as well as your experience leading high performing teams to lead and expand the Silicon Supply Chain Team that is managing the manufacturing and delivery of these silicon chips into Microsoft’s datacenters. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in Microsoft’s evolving silicon strategy by providing thought leadership towards development of supply chain capabilities in support of Microsoft’s custom and semi-custom silicon programs. This role will be responsible for the transformation of our supply chain and ensuring we deliver to program milestones. Responsibilities

  • Lead Microsoft’s custom silicon supply chain team.

  • Leverage expertise in semiconductor supply chain to develop an understanding of current org capabilities, infrastructure, and processes as well as interdependencies with partner organizations towards Microsoft’s readiness in delivering advanced silicon components.

  • Lead partnership with internal and external stakeholders in closing org gaps with an emphasis on efficiency, effectiveness, and overall operational excellence through the identification of clear owners, deliverables, and timelines

  • Mature supply chain flows (forward and reverse) and capabilities working across teams

  • Be responsible for delivering to demand plans, ensuring continuity of supply, and managing appropriate inventory levels to avoid excess or stock out

  • Achieve established commitments on total cost, supplier quality, compliance adherence, and on-time delivery

  • Develop key escalation channels across supply base, and leverage broad operations experience for proactive risk mitigation, for leadership across disciplines, and for executive communication

  • Establish multi-year supply chain strategies supported by market intelligence, supplier rationalization, pricing projection, TCO cost modeling, and transparent supplier relationship management

  • Identify appropriate stage gates needing decision from executives, facilitate discussions and drive decision making to achieve program goals

  • Thrive in a high demand environment, navigate ambiguities and obstacles through evaluation of alternatives and open-mindedly leverage help from others

  • Seamlessly switch between strategic development and tactical execution

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 9+ years experience (including internships) in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations

  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 7+ years experience in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirments:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Subject matter experience in a global silicon supply chain

  • Business professional with an equally strong engineering acumen

  • Technical degree in a silicon or semiconductor-related field

  • Delivers project management solutions in a technical environment

  • Negotiation and contract management experience

Sourcing and Category Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
