The Microsoft Identity security team is dedicated to safeguarding our users from account compromise and fraudulent activities. At the heart of this mission is our data science team, which plays a crucial role in developing and enhancing machine learning-based detection methods to identify and malicious actors, ensuring the protection of our customers. We are currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist II to contribute to our efforts in building advanced analytics and automation capabilities. In this role, you will collaborate with data scientists and security researchers to develop detection mechanisms, establish evaluation methodologies for monitoring the performance of our machine learning systems, and enhance grading capabilities. Your responsibilities will extend to constructing detections based on expertise findings and developing algorithms to automate the manual grading and investigation processes. Responsibilities
Build industry-leading fraud detection algorithms to prevent fraud and abuse of Microsoft Identity services.
Deliver end-to-end machine learning/deep learning solution to address critical product challenges.
Set up and track metrics to assess the quality of our detections.
Analyze new data sources and research new patterns and techniques that can be used in automated detection.
Partner with different teams to onboard data and services detection development.
Help the team achieve its mission by participating in incident resolution and investigations on identity attacks.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
OR equivalent experience.
Background working with ML-frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn etc
Familiarity with using a modern big data platform such as Hive/Spark/Cosmos/Kusto
Production experience implementing machine learning pipelines and models at scale in Python, Scala, or similar languages.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR equivalent experience.
1+ year(s) experience creating publications (e.g., patents, peer-reviewed academic papers).

Applied Sciences IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
